I have a 50 bar CO2 main tank in operation. The supplier for CO2 have tanks of 20 bars only . So he tells me that i have to EMPTY about quarter of my main tank in air before he can supply me . even after i cool down the main tank . My Question is : 1 - Is there any othet solution than thowing away , 25 % of the tank capacity which about 650 kg CO2 , in the air ? 2 - If that is nesscary can i refill small CO2 cylinders ( like 2 and 3 kg CO2 cylinders ) instead of just throwing the gas in the air

Some one violated the golden rule of liquid C02 piping.. Where ever liquid can get trapped,a safety valve shall vent the trapped area. Your whip has ball valves at both ends. Not a safe whip. Even with the purge or vent valve. There is a chance of trapping liquid between two fixed points.

Quick question. I'm looking at doing this also. Does the big bottle have a siphon in? I read somewhere that if it doesn't have you have yo turn the big bottle upside down? Is this true?

Yes, it needs a siphon tube, which he mentions in the video. You can also turn the tank upside down, but I wouldn't want to do that for a large tank.

Yes, it is possible. But remember that these procedures must to be done by a trainer people. Inverting the cylinder can transfer rust or strange material on to your empty cylinder. To avoid that it is recommended to use a syphon tube.

i wonder if you could fit the dry ice in a cylinder then close the cylinder with the dry ice inside and leave it for awhile, would it be the same as a normal co2 cylinder ? will i blow up if i dont put in the correct amounts of dry ice

@@spencer5082 You need a CO2 tank with a Siphon Hose inside. Any welding supply shop should be able to sell you one. That kind of tank can only supply liquid CO2. I wonder about turning a normal CO2 tank upside down?

Here´s a dumb question: even though you open the valve slowly, isnt there a risk to explode the hose or the small cylinder? Because the big one holds a lot more pressure ? Could you just open it and leave it or you just do it while you hear it transfer? (this was more than a dumb question, lol)

Both cylinders will be the same pressure if they are at the same temperature and each contain some liquid CO2.

You can't tell because the liquid is always expanding and contracting because of temperature

Tanks are filled with Liquid CO2, pressure varies, around 600-800PSI in normal indoor temps, and will remain "constant" in that range until the liquid is depleted. So pressure is the same, for any CO2 vessel, no matter the tank size.

NO!! Please. Put the ball valve at the target end when filling more than one bottle, that way the hose once bled uses very little to bleed at the target bottle. Also you did not show bleeding the hose unless I missed that.

flexible tube is called a hose if that's what you're talking about. He calls his transfer hose a whip about 1000 times or 1 kilotimes in this video. Maybe correct maybe not but if you open the valve w/o a receiving bottle attached you'll find why it's called a whip

buy it? they don't even know how to sell it. if you look at: www.istaproducts.com/co2-refill/ COST (USD): 223.00 provided by Gulfstream Tropical Aquarium after going to their website you'll find that they have either converted into or got bought out by magfloat. even though magfloat has a partnership with the ISTA company, the whip never made it to magfloat site or ISTA catalogs. I wonder how hard it is to replace the tops.

Is there a reason that the ball valve isn't on the other end of the whip, with the bleed screw between the tank valve & the whip's ball valve? (Just asking). My logic is this: With the ball valve & bleed screw on the other end, the whip stays pressurize between fills but only the space between the ball valve & the tank valve is depressurized between fills (instead of the whole whip). This would take a little less time to bleed down, but more importantly, it might waste a little less gas. From a practical standpoint, it probably wouldn't matter too much. (If, on the other hand, the gas in question was He--more expensive--then it might matter more!)--RS

you can`t unscrew the whip if it has pressure, hi pressure tightens connections ...that`s why you always bleed the pressures.

Yes you can, but good luck inverting a very heavy #50 tank! We charge A/C units this way at the very beginning of a total refill. Just make sure you do NOT put too much liquid in the receiving tank, that it is not rated for.

Why not attach the whip, put the whip and bottle on the scale and zero it then fill it to the correct Co2 weight.

I would mention that co2 displaces oxygen in a room. Make sure your room is properly vented. Co2 is heavier than air and can kill!!

The supply cylinder must have a dip tube to supply liquid CO2 to the receiving cylinder, or one might be dedicated and fab a rack to safely invert vapor-withdrawal cylinders. Those wanting hardware can order from their local welding supply. Western Enterprises dominates the US market. I use a tee, a whip and a common regulator on the vent side of the tee when I transfill for welding use.

, that whizzing sound are made by friction that creates heat , heat limits expansion of the gas, so if not chilled you get less gas liquid in it...
