How to transfer photos from an Android smartphone or tablet to a PC

I just went live with my Ecommerce business. Being 58, and having very little knowledge of the capabilities of the electronics today, I had no understanding of how to put the pics of some products I took recently on my phone. With my old phone (iPhone 4), I just plugged the cord into the phone and the computer and transferred them. With my "newer" LG Stylo 3 that my step-daughter gave me, it didn't work that way. I spent three hours "playing" with this. Then I saw your video. And BAM it worked. Thank you so much. Oh, and I did subscribe.

This would be great advice except that the Android phone icon doesn't appear on the PC and the dropdown menu on the photo doesn't either. Other than that, perfect unless you want to transfer photos from the phone to the computer.

One like --- comin up! Seriously -- DCIM??? WTF? I had all the other steps down. Phone. Cord. Even External Hard Drive. I am Flying. Connect phone. See the Icon. Click it. Bunch of folders. I am getting CLOSE! Click on Pictures -- NOTHING! WTF? I was about to put my head through the wall until you taught me about the DCIM Folder. I guess today is a good day. Thank you, Brother. Internet was telling me I needed an app - they just wanted to place a cookie on my PC. I didn't use anything to transfer pics from my iphone and now I can do it with our S10s too. Easy Peasy thanks to you simple instruction. I did have to disconnect and reconnect to see the device in This PC and hitting the Android ALLOW button is very important, too. Thanks again.

When I tap the phone icon under This PC, nothing Any appears for phone files. It says This Folder is Empty. Any idea why there is nothing showing up? I was locked out of my Gmail account on August 1st and have been unable to regain access, so none of my pictures have backed up and now my phone is totally bogged down b/c I can't delete anything without losing it forever.

I know this is late but oh well, slide down your notification bar and where it says "device charging" click on that and it will have options and then the folder shouldn't be empty anymore

When I click on the phone icon on the PC instead of showing the files, I get a message that states there are no files.

Window's could be having a problem or a different cord that's compatible might help. Another method you could use is loading them to you photos app connected to your email, such as through Gmail's Google Photo's. Let me know if I can be of more assistance!

I can hear the PC bing noise when I connect my Samsung Galaxy 7 edge but Nothing pops up. Searching in the File access It does NOT appear either. Plugging a USB key into the phone works for transfers. Then plug it into the PC.

I have Windows 10. I understand that Windows 10 does not allow you to "simply" plug in a USB plug (you can, but any photos and videos will not show). I was told that Google and Windows 10 changed their protocols in NOT allowing file transfers. Your thoughts - anyone.

Your instructions sound straight forward however when I press Control and A nothing happens. I have an Android phone and a Dell computer. Can you please give me some more help?

You might have to click an empty space inside the window and then try the CTRL+A again just to be sure the window is selected. If that doesn't seem to be the problem you can also select them all by clicking and dragging your mouse over all the items you want to select. Let me know if that didn't help!

This process works the same on older devices. There is a possibility the cable you are using only supports charging and not data. Do you have another cable?

Hello, my phone has been getting a bit slow as of late, and I don't want to take off any of my apps. So I decided to go for my photos (a bit under 1800). Before, I was able to move my photos, my phone would ask me if I wanted to share my photos with my computer, and so would tap Yes. However, my phones doesn't do that anymore and my computer doesn't get anything on the File window. My phone would start to charge because it is connected to my computer, but that's it. This is the same charging cable I've used in the past, and I get the same treatment for other cables.

When you plug it in, you may need to allow it as a mass storage device. MTP is the setting it should be.
