WOW ! That is a BIG post pounder. I didn't even know they made them that big. I just have one to put elec. post in the ground. I wonder if they even make that size here in the US ? We went from the 50's down to 30* in Iowa, US. I'll be glad when Mother-Nature makes up her mind on the weather. "Happy Spring" even if I'm a day late. You & kelly have a good weekend. Della. From Iowa, US. :) :)

Hi Joe, we used to use those tools in the Royal Engineers when driving in angle iron pickets to mark out minefields (bloody miles of em)! We called them monkeys, never did know why (the handles were ears I guess). Whatever they are called, as with most clever bits of kit, simple and highly effective. All the best mate, Martin.

Hey joe it’s all going well 👌🏼 I’ve just had to do loads of levelling but don’t have money to get machines so I used three heavy planks of wood screwed together ( even better would have been an old RSJ ) two big screws drilled halfway in so you can attach rope to each side then you drag it along to level works a treat

Post banger = man killer. I used one as a teen never got any better through man hood. if available JCB front bucket does a good job.

It is a disk brake mate dont worry lol. I call the post basher one a pile driver. :)
@Gary0024 жыл бұрын
To level the posts just tap a nail in each end post on the top and tie string across level, you can then just slide it to the side of the FA cup hammer nd get all the posts the right depth ! As for the path we are only allowed paths to a maximum of 2 ft wide for flags, any wider is wasted space and you have to reduce it, maybe check yours isn't the same before you pile money into it mate.
@diggingfordinner4 жыл бұрын
Jee Ell's Durham Allotment Great tip thanks and there’s no rules on paths or even if you grow any food? I have three plots so I’m not short of space
@Gary0024 жыл бұрын
It's just a rule in our site we have, pathways no wider than 2ft, some allotments were being half flagged with about 3 or 4 pallet collar size beds, I think it was old folk just making things manageable for themselves but the committee put a stop to it. That's why we now also have a no concrete rule.
@izzywizzy23614 жыл бұрын
just thinking that in the coming weeks it might be really difficult for you to get to your other plots so you might want to think about giving yourself more growing space locally, for as long as you can still go to your local allotment .

Hi Joe, I've been using the same grow light as you, its brilliant!! So thanks for the link to it. The sungold tomato plants are doing really well but, how long do I keep them under it? I'm thinking about putting them outside in my plastic greenhouse, but as they are used to the light, I'm worried they'll die. Should I take them out from under it first for a few weeks before taking them outside?
@diggingfordinner4 жыл бұрын
Carole Perry yes definitely, as long as they are not out in the wind and cold and are already good strong plants they should be absolutely fine removed from the grow light. Plus it will free it up for another lot of seedlings haha
@tamarasiegrist27764 жыл бұрын
Hi Joe, sorry but, is this a runway or a path? If you keep it that width you will lose so much growing space? do I understand something not correct? Tamara
@diggingfordinner4 жыл бұрын
Tamara Siegrist hahaha I thought the same but then realised that I have 3 Allotment plots to feed two people lol I’ll be growing a variety of flowers this year so I’m not short of space
