For non athletic types, my journey started using Altra and Topo Zero Drop (important) shoes for about two years. Then rotating in barefoot. I am retired military with multiple foot and knee injuries/problems. Do your stretching and see a doc for pains, the bad pain, not the pains from normal exercise (if you can). Vibrobarefoot is the only brand I bother with now, those and Wilding or Splay for casual wear. Great vid, just sharing my thoughts for people who may have a hard time making the switch.

Thank you for sharing your journey and insights. It's valuable to hear from someone with experience in transitioning to barefoot shoes, especially with a background that includes foot and knee injuries. Your advice on stretching and consulting a doctor for severe pain is essential. How long did it take you to fully transition to barefoot shoes, and did you notice any significant improvements in your foot or knee health? Thank you for your service

I tried first in the early era of Vibram and did it cold turkey, huge mistake. I restarted slowly two years ago due to a new knee injury and plantar pain returning while running in max cushion shoes daily. I did PT and seriously transitioned to barefoot, but still run in cushioned shoes (20-25mm zero drop, Escalante and Lone Peak). Still improving my health and the "barefoot mentality" actually helps with that, somehow. IDK, but after a life in boots and Hokas, it just feels right to be in control/contact. @@OwenJackson

im not allowed to wear shoes with laces to work. any idea where i can find some without laces but not a sandal?
@wescam2 ай бұрын
Experts on here may have better input but I would check Splay barefoot shoes for a slip on. I don't know if the larger brands that have no slip work shoes (like Xero Barefoot) make a slip on. They do have a great one but it has laces. @@vannevers

Almost forgot a favorite barefoot boot brand. Check out the Jim Green Barefoot Stockman. No laces. I wear their barefoot African Ranger to work.

This was heful Thanks…i developed pains in planta fasciitis that I had to postpone marathon for next year and so I’m starting slow again….doctor advised running bearfoot on the grass until pain kicks in what now is within 5-10min but I like to think it’s my ‘adaptation’ training to wear bearfoot what I’ve been thinking about for years now but was always discouraged with slow adaptation as I’m as well jump in entirely kinda personality 😂 your video made me feel more in ease about this that it doesn’t have to be such complicated process others make it to be 👏

hey Eva, glad it was helpful. Great to see you finding your own path and living closer to nature. It sounds like you’re approaching the transition to barefoot running in a smart way, especially with your doctor's advice. Starting slow and letting your body adapt gradually is key, even if it feels like a long process. It’s great that you're listening to your body and giving yourself time. How are you feeling about your progress so far?

Blame years of rugby, acute injury and narrow boots. It's something I'm working on. Barefoot shoes and mobility have helped

I tried it a couple of years ago, as always barefoot at home and love the feeling. Also had years of back pain. After listening to the Feel Better Live More podcast, heard that it might help my back, so gave Vivobarefoot Gobi IIIs a go. Loved the feeling, didn’t love the look. Gave up after a few months. Guess what I just ordered, two years later - Gobo IVs. Missed the feeling, and really conscious of increasing my foot strength/balance as I enter middle age. Would love to (slowly….) transition to BF running, and replace my Salomon trail shoes with Vivos. Step at a time though (see what I did there….). Great vids by the way - love seeing more Brit barefoot content. 🦶 🇬🇧

Appreciate your support and watching 🙏 That's awesome to hear about your journey with barefoot shoes. It's fascinating how changing footwear can have such a profound effect on back pain and overall well-being. I'm curious, what made you decide to give the Vivobarefoot shoes another try after two years? How do you plan to approach transitioning to barefoot running this time around? It sounds like a thoughtful and exciting step forward [pun intended] 😊

Hey Celeste, thanks for watching the video. I appreciate your feedback. If you missed the "6 tips," they're available in the chapters section, just check out the description for easy navigation to each step or the bottom of the video. I'll definitely consider adding visual chapters next time for clearer emphasis in the future. By the way, are you thinking about making the switch to barefoot shoes? Hey Davis, thanks for watching. It seems like you might be hinting at the challenges footballers face when transitioning to different types of footwear. As an ex-rugby player, I can definitely relate to the struggle of adapting from traditional sports shoes to ones that aren't quite designed for our specific sport needs. In our training, we spend a significant amount of time out of our specialised gear, and that's where making the most of it comes in. I've found that incorporating barefoot shoes into these moments and focusing on building foot strength and mobility can really make a difference. It's all about maximising our off-field hours to enhance performance on the field! 😊🦶
