How to translate WordPress theme with PoEdit

Hi. I dont understand why some parts on the website got translated automatically to swedish before i installed translation software. like add to cart buttons, latset news and comment section all translated to swedish automatically. Is it because im having admin pannel and WP in swedish? i have WP in swedish and the theme in english. and i want to be able to switch between the 2 using a flag button somewhere on the site. how can i do that? Im confused, i want to have the main language swedish and a flag/ button (whatever) that translate to english if wanted by visitors. what i should do, im really confused. i have already changed the navigation to swedish, like tjänster instead of services, what happen when i install the translator then? i want to keep the content made by the theme and let the software translate to swedish. apreciate your help.

I am using Polylang for translation and it seems like not all strings got translated. Now this video shows an interesting alternative. But can I use polylang and poedit (to translate everything polylang wasn't able to translate) at the same time?

I don't specifically for plugins, but it's essentially the same. Except that the plugin translation files should be named with the slug of the plugin first, ie. folder-name-of-the-plugin-en_US.po
