I've soaked mine overnight in warm water, and had pretty great success. I sowed them in paper pots I made from from brown paper, and had pretty good success. I think my heating mat made a difference, too. Next year, I really want to try sowing seeds from my plants though. I watched your playlist for collecting seed and was amazed at how many of my plants set viable seeds. I'm going to have so much trailing lobelia and alyssum next year! 🤗

Thank you for sharing your Lupine seed sowing tips. 💗 I'm so happy that you'll be able to collect so many seeds from flowers in your garden this year. Yay!! 🌸

Aw, they’re teeny-tiny! 😑 Adorable. Great information!

Thank you! They are so cute when they are small. Once they get too big, it's very hard to transplant them. Lupine are one of my favorite flowers! 🥰🌼

@@budgetgardeningvita I’m in Alabama, like another commenter, but I know there are a couple of varieties that are native here. I plan to take a look at some of those. 🙂

I’m in Zone 7a NJ. I planted lupine seeds using the winter sowing method with success. I didn’t get a lot in the one gallon jug, but enough to have a couple of plants.

That's definitely great success. Lupine plants are so expensive so anytime you can get a plant or two to grow from seed is a win in my opinion. Happy gardening, friend! 🌺

This is a plant I've tried to start from seed. Maybe I'll be more successful next year. It's such a cool plant, so I definitely want it in my garden.

Hi there. I'm not sure what zone you're in, but Lupine is a plant worth working hard for in my opinion. 😊 During my research, I read that sprinkling the seeds in the Fall is also a good idea. If you have a sunny area in your garden where you'd like to dedicate to Lupine, I suggest buying a packet of seeds and sprinkling them in that area. Lupine seeds need light to germinate so you want the seeds on the soil surface. Winter sowing the seeds is also a good option. Don't give up, friend. 🪻

Great video! I live in Massachusetts zone 6b-7a and have never had luck growing Lupines after 1 season. Same with lavender for some reason.

Thank you! Definitely give Lupine a try again. I'm learning the key is the right soil (well-draining, acidic soil), and a full sun location (in MA is fine as you're still considered in the northern part of the US). Lupine do not heavy, clay soil (which can be amended with compost if need be). Good luck, friend! 🤞🏼😊

I had lupine years ago... I can"t remember how long it survived. I live in Upstate New York, Zone 6B .That must be quite a chore to heal in all your plants that are in pots!!! Thanks for the video!!!!

I wish Lupine wasn't a short-lived perennial. The key is trying to get it to drop it's seeds and to keep the plant going so when a plant eventually dies off there are more to take its place. I did keep some Lupine seedlings in this flower bed for that reason. Yep - heeling in all my plants is definitely a big chore. 😅 I also need to revisit all the plants currently in my nursery and divide them, pot them up and organize them / move them around. We have a few more days in the 80 degree F range and then after that I'll be tackling the nursery. 🌷

I ordered Lupine seeds. Wish I had seen this video. I live in Zone 8 N. Alabama hot and humid. This would have been my first time to try them, but I will probably skip them. Thank you for the soil prep directions.

Hi Kathy! What variety of Lupine seeds did you order? I did some search on the internet and found that Sundial Lupine (Lupinus perennis) should be able to grow in your area. Also, Lady Lupine. I hope that helps. Good luck, friend! 😊🪻

Great video. I had the plan, but this year the snails 🐌also had a plan😡they were very hungry and I lost all my lupins. Be going to try it next year again.

I have about 20 lupine plants grown by winter sowing this last winter. I potted them up into 2gallon pots in spring.. they are still in those pots, minus the 4-5 that didn’t make it.
@budgetgardeningvita5 ай бұрын
Hi Ruth! Oh wow that's awesome! Are the roots coming out of the bottom of the pots? If not, that's good. Do you plan to plant the in the landscape next Spring? They are going to look so lovely in your landscape! 😊🌸
