@iCultivate1
@iCultivate1 Жыл бұрын
Thank you for taking time to comment ..... i think it is always best to have the collective wisdom of the whole gardening community. But, just to clarify, in the video, I say not to tease the roots out unless they are fully developed and perhaps even circulating around the pot. In other words, if the roots are very well developed, then go for it ....... loosen them up. Hope this clarifies what I mean in the video.

@iCultivate1
@iCultivate1 7 жыл бұрын
Hi Barry. Assuming your roses were already potted and not bare-rooted, then I would recommend leaving the roots alone ...... unless they are already heavily root bound. If you have planted them without messing with the roots, and all other conditions are suitable for your roses, then I am confident that you will be enjoying new blooms soon :) Happy gardening :)

A good suggestion for many plants. But please do keep in mind that some plants rely on the surface roots from which they absorb most of their nutrients.
@IndependenceCityMotoring
@IndependenceCityMotoring 7 ай бұрын
The roots do need to be broken or loosened up because they are formed into a circular pattern from the pot and will continue to do so.
@iCultivate1
@iCultivate1 7 ай бұрын
Actually, this is completely dependent on the nature of the root growth in the pot before you plant it and the soil texture of the soil around where it is being planted. If the root growth in the pot is not already quite 'bound' and circulating around the pot (like the one in the video), it is not necessary to tease out the roots, and to do so can even be harmful. If the roots are already circulating around the pot, then I would agree that it can be helpful. Also, one of the reasons why you should always dig the initial hole larger than the plant, is to loosen the soil texture and to help the new plants roots to penetrate in to it. This specific plant went on to grow in to a very health shrub that covered the wall behind it well.

Spring is always a good time to plant plants. But given your location, make sure you don’t allow your plant to dry out. Hope this is helpful.

Really need help I've a potted 8ft palm in a 24inch pot how big of a hole do I dig? Please help

Sorry for the slow reply. Palm root systems are much less vigorous and invasive than most other plants. Therefore, the size of the hole doesn't need to be much larger than the existing pot. Work on 30 inches in diameter and just a few inches deeper than the height of the existing pot. Hope this helps :)

I have a bad soil and I don't wish for my flower plants to grow larger in size, they perfect how they are in the pot. Can I just keep the pot in the soil with the plant in it to avoid all the hassle of the shock? I hope yhey won't die if they are just kept in the pot.

Good question ……. I am confident that they would be fine if you put them in the ground as per the video instructions. But if you definitely want them to remain in the pots while put in to the ground I am confident that they will be fine, as long as there is good drainage in the bottom of the pot. Keep in mind though ……. The plant’s roots will find their way out of the pot, and eventually out grow the pot anyway. Hope this helps 😊

What can I do if my grafted mango plants leaves turn brown after transplanting... Will the leaves grow back help

Unfortunately I have to say that it doesn't sound good. Have all the leaves fallen off? Is there any sign of new growth? how long ago did you transplant it? What climate do you live in; is it winter there and how cold?

I must ask, I've seen a few videos contradicting each other regarding disturbing roots. Someone said to rough up the soil once removing from pot so it can grow outwards. Any reason or specific plants that some people say that? I'm a rookie gardener

Great question. I always follow the follow guidelines - If the roots have become compacted and are starting to circle around the pot, I tease them out a bit - this helps to encourage the roots to move out in to the surrounding soil. If the roots are not compacted and are only just starting to show signs of expanding around the extremities of the container, then I leave them alone. Generally, the more compacted and bound up in the pot the roots are, the more I disturb them; and vice versa. I hope this helps 😁. Happy gardening 🌿🌱

Thank you for your question. Thai basil grows very well from cuttings, so I would expect if some roots were proven, it still should grow well. Just ensure that you keep it well watered and I am confident that you will get a good crop of basil 😄 Happy gardening 😄

Does this work for every plant including Sunflowers.

Will do, although sunflowers are an annual plant and won’t regrow after flowering.
