I set my 330’s about 3 inches off bottom. I find that the fur sometimes sticks to the ice and then I have to gently break it apart so there’s no pelt damage.

@79Testo yes i agree the belise 330 are the best the safety latches actually stay latched untill you take em off!! i bought 20 new belise 330 i love them. thanks for commenting

@79Testo yes it is the harrdest part usually you would mark the run/entrance before freeze up.i feel around for the hole its like hitting the side of a wall then you hit the hole its about the size of a basketball you can feel the hole can feel the stick going up it. the beaver hear it of course they may stay in there house for 2 or 3 days after that sometimes but they dont know what a trap is or that its over there entrance there smart but not that smart. thanks for commenting

trying to find the Beaver entrance looks the hardest for me, how do you do it, what do you feel around for? doesn't that alarm them that there is a trap right at their door entrance, they that dumb? lol

I remember doing this about 20 years ago with a mountain lion watching me from the trees. He started growling at me when I got to close to the beavers I left laying in the snow a day prior. I rough skin them on the line and leave the carcass for the scavengers. Now, I’m feeding my huskies the beaver meat ... I have no more cranky cats to deal with.
