How To Travel by Train from Rome Fiumicino ( FCO ) Airport Train to Roma Termini ( City Center )

Getting to your hotel or the Rome city center from the Leonardo da Vinci International Airport, also known as Fiumicino ( FCO ) Airport is sometimes stressful, costly and daunting specially if it is your first time to travel to this place. In this video, we will show how to get from Terminal 3 of the FCO Airport to Roma Termini, how to buy the ticket from the self service machines or kiosk and what to expect from the train ride.
At the end of the video are some tips about the Leonardo Express train ride so do watch until the end.

I'm travelling to Rome in August this year. I've watched probably 8--10 of these how to get to Rome from the airport videos. This one, for me, is by far the best. I have reduced mobility (I use a walker). No other video either shows or mentions the lifts. I travel alone, using the seat of my walker to carry a small suitcase. There is no way I could use escalators. I've saved this video and intend to watch it several times just to familiarise myself with the airport/train station layout.

Do u have to validate the ticket before using it?

No we did not have to validate before using the ticket. Once we scanned the QR code as seen in the video and the gates open, it is as good as validated.

Excellent information, I might add for your viewers that Rome has a set price for taxes. Going to the city center €50. So all the work that you do walking to the train. Buying the train ticket and making sure pickpockets don't bother. Some punk try to steal a bag. You're saving €22. And you still have to get to your hotel room. So if you can afford it, You're possibly jet lagged, A little disoriented from a long international flight, Just a little bit more money will get you a taxi ride straight to your hotel room.

Once you scan the QR code and the gates open, there is no need to validate again your ticket on the platform. Once on the train, there are ticket inspectors who will ask for your ticket so you need to have them ready.

Are there people to help put luggage on ?

We did not see any porters in the station so expect to carry your luggage on board and stow them properly which is a good incentive to travel light.

@@dianefrancis6746 If that is the case, our suggestions are to email your hotel to pick you up, or if you are doing a tour around Rome or Europe, ask the tour company to help you and provide you with options. There are also taxis outside of the airport but make sure that these are the official ones with the fixed rate and parked at the official taxi stand. Fixed rate only applies for location “inside the Aurelian Walls”. Here’s information from the airport website www.adr.it/web/aeroporti-di-roma-en/pax-fco-taxi . Additionally, contact your airline to help you in booking resources and equipment required for assistance at the FCO airport if you have limited mobility. Do you know if I miss the train for the timeframe I pushed it for can I just get the next train without purchasing another ticket?

Yes you can get in the next train without purchasing another ticket. This is what happened to us. The train we were suppose to be on was so full there was no space for our big bags. The conductor directed us to hop on the next train which was already parked at the next platform. We were able to stow our luggage in the racks and had the seats near it. If you purchased the ticket from the self service kiosk, at the bottom of the ticket it says "VALID 1H 30M FROM VALIDATION". So although you can hop on to the succeeding trains, there is a validity period for it. So please be mindful of that.
