@@DavidsDoseofItaly Little things, like taxi numbers, signs, the language tidbits here and there. It's a whole different approach. Vloggers focus a lot on attractions and where to go or what to do and be on the move all the time and rarely show these tiny details that can be lifesavers. Showing how to buy a ticket AT the machine, step by step, was amazing.

Excellent. Bravo Davide! I learned to accept and even like Termini over my many trips to Rome. I have always shopped at Conad, lower level Via Marsala side. I even bought a hairdryer there one year whn my rented apartment didn't have one. I'm looking forward to exploring more of the places to eat there since they renovated. @@DavidsDoseofItaly Hi David! Do you have a video on where the train station entrances are that are close to the main tourist attractions? Would you recommend taking trains around Rome or walking? - AGian, thanks for the videos. They really are great!
@DavidsDoseofItaly
@DavidsDoseofItaly 5 жыл бұрын
@@candaced5848 I do but the answer is scattered among my videos so to speak. I can answer that here! Fortunately the names of the places often match the metro stop. For example: Line B: Colosseo= the Colosseum Circo Massimo= Circus Maximus San Paolo Basilica Piramide = The gigantic Roman pyramid which is right near the Testaccio neighborhood Line A: Spagna= Piazza di Spagna San Giovanni = a cool papal chapel and the holy stairs, stairs where Christ walked on. That’s in my metro A video btw! Other stops worth mentioning are: Ottaviano= Vatican Flaminio= Piazza del popolo To get around Rome, I recommend walking when possible and enjoy exploring the city center, or take the metro if the distances are long or if you’re tired. Trains within Rome do exist but they don’t have as many stops as the metro and buses. You could however take the train from Termini to go to the Vatican (S. Pietro station) which from Termini does in fact make sense. Termini-Ostiense more or less takes you to Piramide. Other than that I recommend the tips I mentioned above I hope that helps. Check out my previous videos too! You might also want to consider the tram. kzbin.info/www/bejne/rJTWiGiZbMSgeNE kzbin.info/www/bejne/jpK3nKdtq5d3pq8

If your ticket has your name and a specific date in destination that I don’t see why you need to validate it. Ask a train employee just to be on the safe side Generally take us need to be validated when they are original ticket because those don’t tend to have specific times those types of tickets need to be validated because if you don’t what’s to stop you from using it again and again

Hi Betsy! Thank you for the comment and subscribing! I don't think you need to validate it because they will scan it on the train and I believe that's all you need to do. When it doubt ask the staff at the train station. In Italian you'd say "Mi scusi, devo timbrare questo?" You shouldn't have to exchange it for a ticket, but if you do in fact go to the biglietteria and get a ticket then yes, that you do have to stamp (timbrare). Hope that helps!

Hi David! Thank you for your kind words! Buying them now is an excellent idea and I frequently buy them online. The video was made for both scenarios but I did have those people in mind who arrive at the station without tickets and need to know where to go. Fortunately, Termini is not full of twists and turns so it's not hard to get around. The downstairs area is a bit confusing and I got a video covering that if it can help(it's mainly for people who need to get the metro from termini). Anyway, before you enter the area where you have the platforms, they'll want to see your tickets. You can easily show them the bar code on your phone and then also the conductor will want to see it as well. You can show her/him either a paper ticket or your phone. Personally I print it as well just in case my phone malfunctions or the battery dies. I guess I take my accent for granted! Thx!

Hi and thank you! No, I'd most definitely book them in advance to save money. This is true in covid and non covid conditions. In regards to being able to board a train in Italy it's not exactly the same scenario as a plane where you need to get a test right before flight time which is what I did 2 weeks ago when I came back from the US. You will need to show your vaccination card and it must contain the following information:Name, dates of vaccinations, names of vaccines, who issued your vaccination card and it's fine if your card is written in English. This is what I have understood so far. This is also an ever changing situation so it's important to check the latest info. When you book your tickets, see if there is any additional information written on the screen that pertains to vaccinations and vaccination cards. Hope this helps!

question re: termini vs the airport, i will be arriving around midnight and my train will not leave until either 6am or 9am (I haven't decided which I want yet), would it be safer to hang out at the airport until an hour or so before my train leaves or is ok to go on to termini? Thanks..................also if you purchase a ticket online (termini to la spezia) do you still have to validate it? if so ... how?

Hi Christy. From the looks of it you have no choice but to remain at the airport till your train leaves. However I believe the TAM bus service has 24 hour service. I made a video on this: kzbin.info/www/bejne/iJDSkGBml7imgK8 Hopefully that helps you. As for your ticket, I would validate it anyway because you can never be penalized for that. You validate them at the beginning of the platform. Insert the tickets into the little green machine and it stamps it for you.

Hey David! Thank you for this useful video. Im traveling to milan Italy on the 26. I plan to check out Rome on the 27th. I want to buy my train tickets on the 26 so I won’t have to worry about it early in the morning. Do I have to validate my ticket right away or do I have to wait until the 27 to validate it?
@DavidsDoseofItaly
@DavidsDoseofItaly 2 жыл бұрын
Hey! thank you for the positive feedback! No, make sure you validate it right before you board the train. You can do that by those little green machines at the train station and on the track right next to the trains. insert ticket, slide it to the left ( I believe) and wait for the beep.

thank you for your tips and I have already shared them with groups . David, could you help me in pointing out affordable and interesting places to eat in rome , near the most touristic visited places? As I am travelling alone, it is being quite difficult to figure out where to stop for lunch time. Indeed I don't intend to spend much in fancy restaurants but to have a good meal. thank you if you could provide me with your tips. Regards samia creiimer

Hi Samia and thank you for sharing my channel to others 🥰 Well to save money and eat well In tourist areas I’d avoid the following: places where you mostly see other tourists, places where waiters try to entice you to get you to go into the restaurant. It can be hard to pinpoint a nice place to eat however you can always save money by going to a place that says Pizza al taglio, tavola calda. Look for places that have a lunch menu and also use the fork and trip advisor apps to check out what’s around you. Look for ratings and reviews. Check out this video I made where I recommend 11 good restaurants. They are geared a bit towards dinner I believe but I’ve eaten in all these places and they’re yummy ! kzbin.info/www/bejne/kIPOZqVmnJeSiMU
