A very long time ago, there were some Belgian trains with a mobile cart service selling drinks and snacks. But that hasn’t been the case since at least 30 years I believe. Understandable since Belgium is a rather small country and few people really travel the whole length of the country. So better get some snacks before getting on board ! Also, the offer you sometimes see in other countries of vending machines in the train, is not available in Belgium and not planned.

This train was faster a long time ago. But good news is coming : the major works on thetrack leaving Brussels should speed things up by early 2026. Meanwhile the renovation of the tracks through the dark Ardennes valleys between Namur and Libramont will increase the speed to 140 or 160 km. So lets hope that somewhere in 2029 the new timetable will have good news for the whole of the line.

Remark: The Belgian National Railways company is not SNCF (which is the French railroad company) but SNCB "Société Nationale Chemin de Fer Belge" (French) or NMBS "Nationale Maatschappij Belgische Spoorwegen" in Dutch.

These trains are not new and do not have modern equipment. But … they ride very comfortably and are therefore well appreciated.

Just to be clear for those who did not read the subtitles : it said sncf, but that is the french company. It should have been nmbs / sncb

Hi thanks for the video supe helpful: I have 2 questions if I may please? 1.) are there spaces for large suitcases? i have 2 so im wondering if I should take the closed compartment or the open seated compartments? Can you advise please? 2.) is taxi available in Luxembourg station? Thank you!

1. There may not be dedicated space for large suitcase. But the compartments are typically vacant. Closed compartment may not be required. 2. Yes, Taxi will be available in Luxembourg

Hi, I've looked it up on Google maps & it says the trip is over 4 hours long? That's from Brussels Centraal station to Luxembourg, is that accurate? I thought it's about 3 hours!
