that document you mentioned on minute 5-6, you fill it out depending on the passport you’re using, its implicit that if you are using a foreign passport is asking you (How many days will you stay in Mexico), if you’re using a Mexican passport is asking you how many days you travelled abroad. Mexico has not a strict immigration policy so they not pay a lot of attention to this, but in most countries (Europe and Canada/USA they ask this questions and sometimes this leads to even more questions about your finances and if you’re able to support your travels while in Mexico. The other part (residents of Mexico/Mexican) is used for statistics purposes. They use that information to document how many Mexican travel abroad and how many days they stayed out of the country. You do not fill out both because it is confusing. In this case, when you use a Mexican passport you should have said “ I have been in the US for X many days, in your case you live here (the US) so it would be absurd to say 20+ years” because the immigration officer would ask you… if you are Mexican (because you used your Mexican passport), how are you living in the US for many years. I am a dual citizen myself, and I’ve always struggled using my Mexican passport to enter Mexico because of the form and those particular questions, like i said, they usually don’t care about how long you will stay (as a foreigner) or how many days you stayed abroad (as a Mexican) but at one point they can give a hard time if they want regarding date conflicts with days abroad or days you’re planning on visiting. The point is, depending what passport you’re using to enter the country you fill one, or the other, not both, because the same form can be used for foreigners and for Mexicans.

Oh damm that's a good point I never thought about it like that, and also since it was my first time using both passports I didn't really know what to put to be honest 😅 I also tried to find more info about it but nothing similar. But anyways thank you so much for commenting on my video! Not only will this help me for my next travel but for others that will be their first time traveling to mexico with dual citizenship! 😁😁

@@Frosty7206 yeah, also volarís and some others low cost airlines ask you about citizenship, United, delta American etc don’t change the price if you select Mexican or the other, which I find weird tbh. Anyhow I’m always scared of using my Mexican passport to enter because of that stupid form, that I honestly only use my us passport. Although, when I fly volaris I use my Mexican passport just to pay less but when I check in at the airport I use my us passport for the rest of the travel. Haven’t had an issue yet (knocking on wood)

Thanks @Frosty King did it matter if both of your Passports Mexican and United States had different last names. Since in Mexico it is common to used Paternal and Maternal.

Hey thanks for reaching out in your support mean so much for me! (Also sorry for responding late) In Mexico, it is indeed common to use both the paternal and maternal last names. When dealing with passports or official documents, it's important to ensure consistency to avoid any confusion or issues. If your passports have different last names, it might lead to complications during travel or official procedures. It's advisable to have the names aligned as much as possible to avoid any inconvenience. Hope this helps your question 😄

So when I book to Mexico as a dual citizenship I should enter the Mexican passport information? And I won’t have a problem coming back to the USA since in Mexico they add moms last name and in USA I just have dads last name? As in my Mexican passports has NAME, DADS LAST NAME, MOMS LAST NAME and USA Passport I have NAME AND DADS LAST NAME

Thanks for sharing your experience! When you boarded the flight in Mexico to return to the US, did the airline staff take the paper form you filled out at the check-in counter? Or you still keep it in hand? What's the purpose of that form you needed to fill out?

Can someone with dual citizenships of Canada and USA use a Canadian passport to cross the border to the USA while his or her US passport is in renewal process? So far the expedited processing time for U.S. passport is 5~7 weeks or even longer actually Canadians do not need the types of visa to enter the country ! Let me know ^

Heyy thank you for the support! And to respond your question the mexican passport is an optional thing even as a dual citizen, in the website of the airline it does say to bring offical documentation like acta de nacimiento, or like you said a valid ID for México, so yea you can use that when going thru immigration and show them documentation as proof that your mexican! Hope this helps and if any other questions let me know! Wish you a good trip to lindo Mexico! 🙌🇲🇽🥳

Quick question, I'm in the same situation kinda, my trip is super last minute. I only have my US drivers/passport, and MX birth certificate, at the moment. I understand I can enter Mexico without a passport, as long as I have another form of documentation (my MX birth cert). However, when flying back to the US, how do I go about exiting as a Mexican with only a MX birth cert, and no passport to avoid FMM? Is that even possible?

@@JavierGonzalez-ts5iq Hello! Thats a good question, well the consulate does state that you enter as a mexican and leave as a mexican, so considering that if they already let you in with the birth certificate, then I am assuming you can use that same method going back since technically it counts as a official documentation. if you still unsure about entery what I can recomend you as call the airline (that your going to) or call the International airport of Mexico (the airport you are arriving at) and ask them about your question, thats how they helped me with the same question as yours! Hope this helps! Good luck your trip! 😄🇲🇽

@@JavierGonzalez-ts5iq furthermore if you want to avoid any issues it's best to get a Mexican passport just to not pay any fines or for things to get complicated
