After visiting Lofoten islands we drove back to Oslo to return the car rental and get on the flight to US next morning, however, we found out the flight was cancelled due to the strike. We called the car rental company and luckily we were able to extend the car rental for 3 more days until the next flight. hi guys! I’m going to Norway this coming fall and have a couple questions for you- did you find it pretty easy to drive throughout Norway? Did you feel like you could understand road signs (like speed limits, directions to view points) or did you not need to necessarily? Was Apple maps & internet connection reliable? And if you include ferry rides/tolls when you rent a car, it seems like all they do is scan your license plate or something and you can drive onto the ferries? Last question lol, did you end up driving all the way back to Oslo at the end? Your trip looked so sick, love this video it helps me with planning!! Thanks :)
@DylanBrianVlogs9 ай бұрын
Thank you!! And to answer your questions, it was pretty easy to drive in Norway and road signs were understandable, however, pay attention to speed radar control cameras, specifically before the tunnels. You need to watch for the blue signs (with camera) it's a warning sign before there is a speed camera so you won't get a ticket. We learned the hard way in Iceland and got some speed ticket so hope that helps you to avoid it :) and yes, ferry rides will just scan your license plate, it was extra charge via rental company for that purpose but for sure it helped and saved a headache. And your last question: YES, we drove back all the way to Oslo so it was our longest day of driving from Bode but for sure it was worth it!!! Hope you have a great trip and let us know if we can help with any other questions :)

Honestly, that's a tough question because each country has a something else to admire. Iceland is very different from all other countries we've been to and it's very big and open but beautiful. Then we arrived in Norway and noticed it had much more mountains and trees and the big thing is fjords. Noway is a beautiful country and Iceland is a world of its own; we definitely recommend both of them. However, we really enjoyed Iceland a lot because there's nothing else like it. The landscape and terrain is extremely unique and made it feel like we were on another planet. We don't want to make such an important decision for you but we will say that 2 weeks is plenty of time to see both places. We stayed about 8 days in each country. Hope that helps.

Norway can be pretty expensive but if you don't have to eat at restaurants every day, it can be easier on the budget. Since we drove couple of hours mostly every day, we ate at some of the local gas stations which have pretty good amount of food choices in Norway and it tastes good as well. Our favs was the local hotdogs ($6-$8) and vanilla ice cream:) and we always had plenty of fruits, veggies and snacks in the car as well. As far as the car rental, it was about $1,500 for 9 days. The gas is pretty expensive in Norway but the car we rented, Peugeot, was diesel fuel and it was good with mileage. We used booking.com for our hotels so there are plenty of choices as far accommodation, depends on your budget. Hope that helps, or let us know if you have any other question:)

Yes, that period is excellent for watching the northern lights. There are a few things to be aware of, though. There is absolutly no guarantee you'll see it, it's most frequent in cold, clear weather. Nice video, but it's full of false/wrong information. Here's a few of the major ones: "The further north you wanna go in Norway, the more ferries you're going to have to take". Eehhh... no, that's NOT true at all. You can drive the main road from Oslo all the way to North Cape, and you only have to take ONE ferry (from Bognes to Skarberget). That's a distance of almost 2100 km (1300 miles). There are only some few areas where there are a lot of ferries (mainly the coastal road south from Bodø, and parts of western Norway). Atlanterhavsveien (the Atlantic ocean road) is NOT dangerous, that's a ridiculous rumour spread among youtubers. It's ONLY somewhat dangerous in heavy storms, and when that happens, it gets closed. Trondheim is NOT in Northern Norway... To get from Trondheim to the "gate" that marks the entrance to Northern Norway, called "Nordlandsporten", you have to drive around 300 km (almost 190 miles) further north. You don't "enter" the arctic circle, you cross it. Consider it a border. And you call Lofoten a "place in the arctic circle". No, it's in the arctic REGION - again, the CIRCLE is just a thin line, a border. Lofoten: "In the winter the sun barely ever rises, only seeing glimpses of it". That's ONLY true for a few weeks, NOT the entire winter, FAR from it.
