Thanks for your service Doc. Our friends little dog has had a rough past couple of weeks. They believe he has the white shaker condition. I think he’s on the steroids currently and I forwarded your briefing on the topic and CBD recommendation. I lost my 15yo Aussie in Jan and he was on water soluble THC CBD from the time he was probably 9 and it was really good for him. His eyes were clear, no allergies, no stinky dandruff, no aches or pains after hard play and his grey hair on his face disappeared! The pet stuff is garbage and the water soluble stuff usually looks white like milk and has the legal limit of THC. American shaman is as the best stuff that I’d found for the money. They have a compassionate use program that you can sign up for that reduces the cost.

My dog was given vet prescription pain meds for bone loss and pain due to old age. He's started shivering so now I'm wondering if it is toxin response to his pain meds or Alz/Parkinson's. I love to keep the house 73-75 degrees and he has had no chance of poisoning/can't get into anything. I'll check out sodium too since his bloodwork for his organs came out great. They're cold. Especially Chihuahuas. Just put a jumper on them. Meds can make them twitch as well if they epilepsy (correct me if I'm wrong).

One of my dogs shakes from epilepsy with generalized tonic-clonic seizures. She is being treated effectively with zonisamide once a day, alprazolam to prevent seizures during stressful situations, and rectal Valium to abort seizures.

Wow, sorry to hear this. I have had to put-down several dogs whose seizures were out of control. The vets tried everything but the seizures would not cease. We live in an area (S CO) of high radioactivity and many carcinogens in the soil and water. Have you had any luck with more natural supplements?

Hey Dr Jones, It seems this problem is increasing. I have seen a relation of shaking and/or Canine Cognitive Dysfunction, and it is their diet. The more filler (corn, soy, wheat) the more common the cognitive problems. Diet is overlooked: "It's just a dog", "I can't afford to pay for good dog food",... Diet is huge in many problems but people just don't get that what we eat makes us who we are - mentally, physically, and psychologically. Thanks for the tips on supplements to help keep our pups at the top of their game!

History: My 2 year old Boston Terrier, unspayed, does *head nodding with some licking action just as if she was licking and cleaning herself on her upper body but less pronounced. That started when she was apx 1 year old and my vet said that wasn't unusual. Then she started full body shivering apx 6 months ago. It looks was as if she was VERY cold (typical of Boston's do when it's cold or they're scared) BUT it was a warm day. She doesn't "look" like she's having even mild seizure. *No frothing, *she's aware but won't look at me, she's *not unbalanced, she's usually sitting when it happens but she avoids eye contact with me which is unusual. Gracie will usually look at me even if she has done a no-no, like ripping up her bother or sisters toys. She was difenently avoiding eye contact while she was shivering and I was calml, holding her close and talking to her, reassuring her that she was a good girl and everything is okay. I've seen her shivering like that but not as long or as intense apx 10 times. Most only lasted 30 seconds to maybe 1 minute. I'm usually home since I'm disabled so I have a good idea what she acts like all the time. Although last night she was laying against my chest and passed less than a teaspoon of *clear fluid with no scent apx 10 minAFTER the shivering bout that lasted apx 1 to 2 minutes at the most. She may have been passing clear fluids without my knowledge. My Frenchie is an obsessive paw licker and will leave wet spots on the furniture covers that might have been Gracie's fluids...? Axp 3 months ago Gracie had a FULL panel done (via blood, feces and urine) due to some yellow fluid she was passing. She was tested for urinary and I think bladder, for infections of different types. The numbers showed all normal and NO infections on any kind and her organs numbers were all perfect. She did go into heat a 5 days later. I did tell/remind my vet about her head nod/licking and her shivering and asked if they could be related. He said that there shouldn't be any reason for those behaviors to be related. I don't know what the name of the panel was called but it was less than $400 (I live in L.A and seems things are less expensive in other areas) The veterinarian hospital I go to has all types of different specialists which my veterinarian spoke with for Gracie's case. She was given a mild antibiotic BEFORE the panel was started to be on the safe side, because I had to collect her urine (that was funny to see) to avoid the vet using a needle. My vet tries NOT to do anyting evasive. He will also recommend natural remedies vs medications even though he isn't a specialist in natural medicine. He also gave me some Mal-A-Ket pads to wipe her vulva when she urinates due to her having a mild recessed vulva.(it looks more than mild to me but he said it was definitely a mild) The ONLY reason why I'm on the internet looking for help and not at my vet is due to a car accident two weeks ago. My car was totaled from being read-ended by a van. I'm supposed to be staying in my bed. Not easy to do with three little ones to feed and love on and I have no car. I have no relatives and most of my friends live far. Since I became disabled with a chronic illness my other friends just drifted away. Any help or advice would be very appreciated. Thank you for your time. Susan & my 3 stooges. ❤🐾❤ I now feed my 3 babies a raw diet for the last 2 years and do whatever I can to keep them healthy and happy as much as I can possibly do. I also NEVER let them outside without me being with them so they can't eat anything that someone may have tossed into the yard or what the squirrels bring into the yard. PS I had a 7 year old male Boston in 2016 that had his 7 year FULL check up and Tyson was in "remarkably good health" along with his Frenchie brother. They didn't even need any dental cleaning and never had any dental cleaning. The day after their check up Tyson had a mild seizure and we rash him to our old vet. Tyson passed 6 hours later. My vet that we had been with for over 20 years was very upset and did a full body scan on Tyson....she wanted to know what she might have missed. Tyson died of a brain tumor and had not showed ANY signs of ANYTHING. I was disabled when we got Tyson when he was apx 1 year old and he never had any signs of any kind that would have indicated anything wrong with him. He was perfectly healthy....I thought.💔 Hence my fear for my baby girl.i

My Parson Russell terrier who will be 11 in November had a few issues with looking like he was vibrating a few times in the last week. I made a vet appointment. He was able to stop immediately when I went over to him. Nothing else about him is abnormal. He is a few pounds overweight and I've been battling that. I used to have him on a chicken diet and he became overweight because he is picky with vegetables. I've tried so many fresh frozen food as well as other diet food and he'll starve himself. My vet said to let him starve because he'll eventually eat whatever I give him. I'm wondering if it's low blood sugar due to his picky eating.

My dog is not quite 4 years. A 10 lb Jack Russell Shortie Poo. I got her when she was 2. She was full of ticks when I got her. She had been living on a farm. She has Lyme disease with some kidney damage. In spite of her health she loves to be outside, run , and chase critters. I recently got her Nexguard for tick control. She took it last year with no problems. I just gave it to her for three months. I am wondering if this could be toxic for her. Since she has had the first dose she has been having tremors or possibly seizures of some kind. She moans and her muscles seem to be contracting, and she shakes. Not constantly but a fair amount. She cries and whines when we pick her up as if in pain too. She is eating, drinking, and pooping normally at this point. This has been going on for a few days. My husband also spread grass seed coated with fertilizer on part of our lawn.. this could be the culprit too. Does this sound like a toxic response to you or something else? Yes Sue it sounds like some type of toxic response. It may be due to the Nexguard, but less likely as she had it last year with no problems. Did she lick up some of the fertilizer? Best to see your vet 1st

Veterinary Secrets, Doc, you talk about small breeds, but what about the toy breeds, Chihuahua, Yorkies, toy poodles, or any mix of? As a groomer I find that they all shake a lot. The other is Terriers, almost any size but especially the small and toy size. I have found something that helps some of them, especially if I can stay relaxed. I don't know if you have heard of it, there is a learning centre in Vernon, B.C., it's called TTouch. It has already helped a couple of my clients. One especially, looks like a border terrier, Shih Tzu cross. They know it is a terrier Shih Tzu. He hates car rides, loud noises such as vacuums and blow dryers. He usually shakes the whole time. The first time I used the TTouch on him he did better with the cutting, nails and ears stuff, but I actually used the high velocity dryer on him without much fuss, then on the table used a regular blow dryer and he was falling asleep. Talked to the client a few days after and asked how the car ride home was. She hasn't thought about it, but he was better with that as well. The have been working with him since and he almost enjoys the car and he is doing so much better with his grooming as well.

My 5 yr old rescue (street dog) min pinscher chihuahua mix trembles, pounding heart and breathes fast when she sleeps, especially during the initial stages of sleep (on my lap). HI,I have a T-cup Yorkie. Just moved to FL. do to storms she shakes more and stresses and will bleed in the stool, Now it has worsened, with every high clicking snapping noise, nail clipping, she is with two older elderly dogs that bark at anything that approaches the home and she get excited with them which, she now does and stresses her. and screaming 4 years old does not help. I was hoping to find a video from you on this. My Maltese was up shaking at 4am this morning. I wasn't sure what it was but remembered a friend telling me about white dog shaker syndrome. We adopted him last spring and a few days after he had had a couple of vaccinations, (Bravecto and something for heartworm) he had a seizure. That's when I first heard of it. The vet clinics is sending emails about him being due for more shots and I've been putting it off, I'm not sure what to do. I'm not too keen on the idea of more toxins in his little body. Tell the vet he had a bad reaction so you are not vaccinating him anymore. New research shows 1xyear is too much & some vets are giving less. They give a small dog same dose as a great dane! I had 4 cocker spaniels, all vaccinated & all died of cancer! I don't vaccinate my dogs now

My dog was born shaky and according to this video it may be one of the last points. He recently started having seizures and it's EXTREMELY concerning. He will be visiting a vet on Thursday, and all that I want is for my baby to have a normal, thriving, LONG life. Couldn't live with out him. If anyone else has this issue I can update ya'll on what it was.

According to the vet all is well and he is a healthy dog externally, and appears to be healthy internally as well! Thank God, but till blood work results come through tomorrow we won't know about his shaky behavior or anything else.

my 3 year old bully breed female started having small head shakes where her jowls and loose skin on her neck are vibrating ,but it doesn't look like a full seizure, and she does look at me while its happening but its like she can't stop , it only lasts about 30 seconds or less , it's mostly just here head in up and down movements 😩

That is some type of localized tremor, intention tremor. Good idea to get her checked out, although may be no obvious underlying cause. CBD would be a good option

Sounds like a focal seizure, meaning a seizure that's only in a small part of the brain.

I've noticed in the last couple months when the ups or usps driver is stopped delivering a package on our dead end road Jax (2 1/2 year old Maltese yorkie mix) stands with his front leg up and shakes while he's waiting for them to leave. He loves running with the cars/trucks when they leave our street. I feel like he is overly excited waiting for them to leave so he can run circles in our yard as they drive by. He is alert while doing this and if I try to go near him he moves like he's playing and doesn't want me to take him inside. After he runs with their truck he is perfectly fine comes inside to open the boxes/packages hoping he got something. He is not afraid of them, it's quite opposite he loves them (they deliver his toys and treats and bring him their own treats when they come to our house). Just wondering if I should have him checked out as it truly only happens while he is waiting for them to drive down our road so he can "race" them. I thought it was the cold originally since he wouldn't come inside while he would wait for them, however now that the weather is nicer I see that is not the case.

Hi doctor.. hoping that you can help. I have a 9 year old beagle/daschund mix & Last night I noticed that my dog was having trouble to jump up on my bed (she would try to but couldn’t.. as if she was scared to?) and this morning the same thing happened. She didn’t want to jump down or get up on my bed.. even though she WANTED to.. she would hesitate. In the midst of all this, she is SHAKING... I did a body examination and nothing seems to be hurting her. She is also walking fine but is going up the stairs very slowly.. another thing is that she is hiding under beds as if she is afraid of something. Question for you Doc: I was about to adopt a 3 month old, 15 lb puppy until I found out the synthetic meds and vaccinations they had given her in the 4 days she was at the shelter. Within 4 days they pumped her full of this: pyrantal DAPP BORDETELLA Rabies shot Ivomec (Ivermectin) Frontline/Adams/ Fipronil Metronidazole They also put her under to spay her and gave her pain medication for 24 hours after the spay. She has been pumped with so much in so little time. What are her chances of a healthy life after this horror? Thank you.

Thank you for your answer. I decided against adopting any puppy with so many toxic synthetic drugs in them at the get go. It was a good lesson and education for me to look more closely at what they do to puppies in shelters. I will look for responsible breeders instead.
