SKINCARE PRODUCTS I PERSONALLY USE:
There's no guaranteeing these are the best for you (it's too hard to get the right data for this) but these are products I consider to be from reputable brands, at a good price point, and which I like to use. Also, be careful with retinoids if you have eczema prone skin! Start low, increase slowly, and moisturize a LOT.

La Roche Posay Adapalene (as above, but slightly more fancy): geni.us/poEAc2
Neutrogena Retinol (weaker than above two, more hydrating): geni.us/cpAMAxb

Ive had bad eczema on and off my whole life. Now I am 99% clear. this is what ive learned: - Dermatologists will prescribe steroid creams, and anti histamins, they dont fix the root cause, and it will just cover the symptoms, but the eczema will keep coming back, in my opinion they dont know how to fix eczema. - The main causes are: food intolerances, allergies / auto inmune issues, gut health, and vitamin deficiencies, by managing these i am 99% clear. - My main triggers are animals, dust mites and certain foods and heavy alcohol consumption. Once i have an allergic reaction, my inmune system goes overdrive, and i become allergic to everything, within 2-3 weeks of getting an allergic reaction, ill eat something that causes a new reaction, and ill get eczema all over my body, when i remove the allergen, it clears within 1 month, month and a half. Get yourself tested for allergies, and remove them from your life. - If you are allergic to dust mites like me, you have to change the bed sheets every 2 days, and pijama daily, otherwise they make me itch terribly. I had to change all bed sheets, duvet, pillow to natural fibres, because polyester etc have static electricity, which attracts a lot of dust, i had to replace duvets with wool blankets because they dont have static electricty, breathe better, and are resistant to bacteria and mold, leave the bed undone with the window open during cold months to kill the dust mites, they dont like cold and dry conditions. Vacuum the sheets daily, and the matress when changing the sheets. - Dairy causes me to have severe break outs, i can only take dairy once in a blue moon. Many people I know will also get acne and dry skin because of dairy. - When I used to drink alcohol heavily, I had terrible break outs, and had eczema all over my body head to toes, in my scalp, in my ears, etc, i read that alcohol depletes your body of vitamins A, C, and B, which are all needed to have a healthy skin. Eating sweet potatoes for the vitamin A, and having 4-5k mg of vitamin C helped me almost overnight, eat the sweet potatoes with some oil, as vitamin A is fat soluble, youll absrove it better. As long as I drink very sparingly I dont get terrible breakouts. If you have eczema, remove alcohol from your diet, let you liver / kidneys heal. - other foods that have helped with dry / red skin around my eyes and neck is hummus, i dont know why, eat it 3 times a day for a few days and youll see it helps with the inflamation. - if you dont have good digestion, you need to improve your diet, this is critical, most of us are addicted to bad food, you need to: remove junk food, eat more fruit, vegetables and legumes try to get at least 30g of fibre a day, incorporate fermented food, pro biotics, prebiotics, remove dairy which has 15 separate inflammatory compounds, and remove gluten as many are sensitive to it. Remove sugar and transfats. There is a big link between your gut and your immune system, eczema is a disregulation of your inmune system. Read about leaky gut. Start taking bone broth, and supplement with glutamin, both help to reduce the permeability of your gut, and helps to rebuild gut lining integrity. Also walk more often try to hit 10k steps a day, because walking helps with your gut health. Healing your gut will take a lot of time and work to produce results, committ to at least 6 months of healthy eating. If you are not making smooth, round banana like feces, regularly, and expulsing them without discomfort, then youll continue to have break outs. - meditation and fasting also helps with your gut, theres a type of bacteria that only increases when we dont eat food. Meditation will help with your anxiety / stress, which causes more breakouts. - Improve your diet, this is key! most people will feel a lot of resitance, because we are addicted to bad food. - Once i had bad sores / dryness around my fingers for months, i did some blood work, it turns out i was deficient on vitamin D, which apparently is common among people with psoriasis / eczema, i started supplementing with 2-4k mu of vitamin D3 daily , the sores cleared in a few days. Once again, vitamin D is linked to gut health too, lack of gut biome diversity leads to vitamin D deficiency, it all comes down to your gut and diet. - when you have bad break outs, crush a few garlic bulbs and let them sit for 20minutes to develop allicin, then mix in a warm bath, and steep into it, make sure you buy garlic that has the green bits in the middle and is not hollow (if it is hollow, it means it has been irradiated to increase the shell life, and wont develop allicin when crushed). Garlic is extremely potent against staph, the bacteria on our skin that causes the redness / inflammation when our outer barrier becomes compromised, try to do this x2 a day for a few days, within 2-3 days youll see the inflammation reduces. Yes, youll smell bad, but youll be in less pain. - tea trea oil diluted in water, or a hydrating cream helps with the itch. - the best creams are both hydrating, anti bacterial / fungal, anti inflammatory, i like hope's relief range, also sukin because its all natural ingredients. Summary: - get tested for allergenes, remove them from your life. - remove alcohol completely. - eczema originates from your gut health, gut health is linked to your inmune system, eczema is an auto inmune disease originating mainly from an unhealthy gut. - improve your diet, remove dairy, gluten, sugar, trans fats, get 30g fibre a day, take pre and pro biotics.

My digestion is not great and I’ve had a stool sample analysis which said there was poor bacteria diversity. I don’t know what else to do to improve the gut as I take probiotics everyday and loads of different supplements including 4000 iu of vitamin D and eat a really healthy diet. Dr Syed's point of not using topical steroid cream for more than 2 weeks is golden advice. My doctor told me to keep using it continuously and after years it barely worked anymore so I stopped using it. Now I have topical steroid withdrawal and it's debilitating to my life. I'll never use topical steroids ever again. Be very careful.

This is why my Eczema did not heal for years because of well-intentioned doctors but does not address the Root Cause and are just addressing the symptoms. Using bleach bath!!!? The worst I’ve heard so far. What is really the cause of eczema doctor? It’s food, toxins, stress… All the 5 doctors I went to never ever even mentioned these. I got rid of my eczema by eliminating gluten, sugar and dairy in my diet.

Other lifestyle modifications that are actually quite helpful are diet and anxiety/stress management. Consuming fermented foods and taking probiotics coupled with limited triggering foods such as dairy or eggs or nuts has proven to be quite helpful in the management of this chronic condition. Moreover, meditation and other means of relieving stress also work wonders for some as stress is an equally potent yet manageable/preventable trigger.

Great input! Totally agree that stress worsens every skin disease, and so any strategies that can reduce stress will definitely be helpful for skin. Probiotics and gut microbiome interventions are showing increasing promise in the research too! Think in this next decade we’re going to see huge overlap between gut health and skin disease start to be understood.

Very surprised that fragranced laundry detergents and soaps/body washes weren’t addressed. They can wreak havoc and completely send eczema out of control. Fragrance free versions are often critical to eczema management. Otherwise, all of the other efforts are futile.

This video was very helpful with improving my understanding of my condition, when I was a little kid I used to have an eczema sore so large and so itchy it just became a big red bleeding sore on the back of my leg that would send me crying when it would act up, we tried everything to get it cleared, from salt baths to steroid creams I had to be weened off of, and it still did not clear up, out of all the treatments we ever tried for me, the ONLY thing that worked was a now discontinied product from neosporin being a body wash and a cream they made for eczema treatment, I eventually got that spot cleared up but now that its discontinued I fear for what might happen if it were to flare up again in a major way but I haven't had a major breakout in many years even after we exhausted our last tube of that cream, I just wish I knew what the active ingredients were. At the time I was told I had a mild condition but judgeing by how casually you talk about it in this video maybe my case was more severe then I was led to believe or maybe it just doesn't typically effect little kids but reguardless this video has helped greatly

Cold water has became my BEST friend since I developed eczema again on my hands! Cerve also has a jar ointment as well! It's working great so far for me! @@64startetra Definitely the moisturizing part has to be take care of to heal it (if not completely cure it) but the fact that one can only maintain it and expecting it to "not flare up" says that there is some problem inside as well. If one has not fully conquered it means you r addressing the symptoms with the underlying condition being ignored, which is the allopathic way of treating a disorder :) One has to look for allergic reactions, many people will have for gluten. If there is flare up / itching after consumption of some food then that has to be avoided. also good gut health(without leaks) is paramount,as food particles enter blood stream and trigger unnecessary reactions which lead to eruptions in skin. Good probiotic food(fermented food) and also prebiotic food that encourage good bacteria should be consumed. Flushing out the colon through laxatives ( Triphala etc) and regular fasting may improve the condition.Cheers !!

@@64startetra I have eczema. Here's what I learned. It's an internal autoimmune/inflammatory condition that manifests itself as an external skin disease. You cannot constantly prescribe and apply topical ointments thinking that's going to get rid of eczema. A root cause approach works best. I'm not a doctor, but I'm a scientist who struggles with eczema. This is what I've concluded. It's caused by: 1. Food intolerances/allergies SOLUTION: find your food triggers and allergens and minimize your intake of them 2. Stress/anxiety SOLUTION: stress and anxiety management 3. Buildup of toxins in the body such as pollen, dust, pesticides, mold, heavy metals, chemicals, etc... SOLUTION: detox, I take chlorella 4. Nutritional deficiencies in zinc, vitamin D, and omega 3 fatty acids SOLUTION: supplement with these, I take vitamin D and flaxseed oil 5. Gut microbiome imbalances SOLUTION: take a probiotic, though for me personally I have taken a probiotic and noticed no difference in my skin. So this is likely not the root cause of my eczema and my gut health is fine. But for some people this helps a lot. Good luck! Let me know if you have any questions. I do take supplements, but I'm trying to fine-tune them so I don't overwhelm myself and spend too much money. I'm working on narrowing it down to what I feel I really need.

I had eczema when I was younger. I had a breakout on my legs and used prescription steroid cream on my legs. I started having nightmares and afraid of dying - very unlike 'me'. I looked up in the PDR and 1) steroid cream is absorbed through the skin, especially when covered. 2) It can cause psychosis and paranoia. So, I stopped the cream and started looking for the cause. After changing my laundry detergent, soap and shampoo, it went away and never returned. I don't think MDs are trained in looking for the cause, just 'diagnose and drug'.

I had eczema and got treated for over a year. Finally, on a suggestion, I tried "Cortis*ne-10 for Eczema" every 6 hours. Eczema cleared up in less than 48 hours. It's been 4 months and my skin is perfect. I do use the cream about once a week, just as a precaution. I believe it started due to stress, but it was like my body couldn't turn the eczema switch off once the stress was gone.

I’m definitely going to try out a bleach bath alongside wet wrapping, only using lotion and emollients (on a different night of course) and see how my skin heals. *TLDR; i seem to be the anomaly when it comes to eczema prone skin getting better as you age. It flares then calmes down, but the scars remain on my body* My eczema covers about 50% of my body (majority of my upper body, neck and sometimes my face and scalp). I’ve had steroids always being suggested as a solution, only for my eczema to come back months later SPREADING and even more severe than it was before. Contrary to the general research mine’s gotten worse as I aged (I first had it when I was around 7, and only had one patch on my inner elbow). Its been over 10 years, and I would have eczema develop in areas I’ve never had it before. Most recent emergence has been my stomach and behind my elbows. I don’t know if I’m an anomaly to this general rule of thumb, or if it was the use of steroids that got my eczema spreading and getting worse. Regardless, I’ve always been good at staying on top of moisturising. As an African girl, it was drilled into me and my siblings since were infants. It helps with the ashiness, flaking and sometimes the itching. Still, while my eczema does have phases it goes into recession, the bumpy chicken and/ or crocodile textured skin i have in some parts of it always remains. Like a scar that never truly goes away. I don’t even remember what my skin looks like without all the dark marks and texture. I’m hoping that one day I can get them to look almost as smooth as my legs🫶🏾.

My eyelids have recurrences of eczema. I was prescribed alclometasone, but have a fear of glaucoma. My dermatologist also prescribed a non-steroid in between but it stings. When the eczema flares on my eyelids now, I use Cerave healing ointment. I have also used Skinfix eczema balm. I use a humidifier. Thankfully Curel Hydratherapy helps the rest of my body. But I'd really like to prevent the eyelid eczema, which brought me here. Thank you for this informative video.

I have eyelid eczema too. What has helped me is closing my eye, then while having my eye under the almost cold running water, very gently rubbing my closed eyelashes. The water that drips into my eye afterwards acts as a moisturizer. Then I rub a very small amount of Vaseline into the lashes, being careful not to get it into my eyes which distorts vision temporarily.

I’m in the UK🇬🇧, and after months of waiting I’ve finally got my app with dermatology clinic. I’m 45yrs old and back in the beginning of July this year I started getting this really red, sore, swollen, itchy, cracked, scaly,flaky skin around both my eyes, which then went to other parts of my face. I’ve never suffered with eczema or any other skin condition in my life. This has really caused me, pain and discomfort. I had 3 over the phone app with my GP, they are still limiting patients in the surgery from when covid first hit. My app with derm clinic is an over the phone consultation, to which I’ve had to send photos. I really,really hope they can help me. It’s only on my face, to which I can’t hide it. Watching this video has given me hope that I can get help for this ❤️👍🏼 Could this possibly be seborrheic dermatitis. I read about it and it explains a lot, also I used to have naturally oily skin, T zone and eyelids. This is where the rash has occurred

hi i had it around the eye skin and it went red and sore and i tried the vaseline over night but it was still red inflamed but over a few days it did settle down but was more dry flakey but still red and i went to doctors many times and tried lot's of different options but in the end i went to a skin specialist that recommended eumovate ointment as it deals with the dry flakey skin and it was very greasy but calmed everything down but i'm noticing is there's still a bit of shade of redness, i can't seem to shift that, i did try a rosacea facial cream but had a reaction from that, it's very trial and error to find something that works i've found.

Brilliant content! I'd love to hear your two cents on skin issues particularly around the eyes, as it seems like most treatments can be pretty hazardous when it comes to the skin around the eyes because of the risk associated with getting product in the actual eye. I developed a very sudden and very aggressive eczema around my eyes just a few months ago with absolutely no trigger whatsoever, and am currently battling it out by myself as I can't afford to see a doctor about this currently. I've found an OTC 0,5% hydrocortisone cream gets rid of the eczema completely but it only takes a few days to a week to flare up again :(

My eczema was so severe I developed insomnia and was going to participate in a study using a biological drug. This was a good overview of treatments, but like others mentioned, they are bandaid solutions. For many people, allergies may be a trigger and unfortunately an allergy test may not provide all the answers either. I had an allergy test done and nothing came back positive. It wasn’t until I tried cutting out potential triggers that I found out I was allergic to fragrances and have a sensitivity to gluten.

I'd be very cautious about these skin disorders and that they are actually what they resemble.I had a very close shave with what was originally diagnosed as eczema followed by psoriasis as the condition got worse and nothing worked to stop it or slow it's progress down.When some terrible tumours came leading to an amputation the truth finally came out it was neither eczema or psoriasis but a very rare blood cancer called Mycosis Fungoides which was at stage 2b by discovery the beginning of the aggressive disorder.

@usamasyed
@usamasyed 2 жыл бұрын
For sure allergies can worsen eczema! So for people who have allergies, it’s really important to avoid both contact and dietary allergens that can flare their skin disease! I wouldn’t say it’s caused by allergies, more that people who have eczema are ‘atopic’ at baseline, meaning they are allergy prone, and vice versa!

Bleach and skin steroids are not successful in my case, sadly. I am about to change my diet and lifestyle, maybe a light booth could help too. I think those same immune cells you mentioned after the light booth can be overactive due to mutations in the carb111 gene? And when this happens, I believe trying to change the bodies availability to make certain proteins has been shown to help moderate the negative effect of this in a study, possibly a few. Sorry I haven't got the specifics immediately. Will link them when I find them again soon. In short, this means I might be supplementing certain amino acids as well as the usual vitamins etc + the change in diet. Might drop a reply below with an update if anything works too. Hope everyone isn't feeling too itchy! Thanks for the video:)

I give myself Dupixent shots every two weeks. Without them I could not work as the eczema on my hands is so bad that it bleeds into my nitrile gloves and pools at the finger tips. As I work with medical equipment, not wearing gloves sets me up for some pretty horrible consequences. I would have had to literally change my profession in order to survive. I have done everything you mention and without the Dupixent? I look like a blob but my hands get the worst of it. I used to duct tape gloves on at night to keep myself from scratching my palms and hands. Now I have to make sure to cream them up regularly (as I have to wash my hands all the time at work), use Eucrisa and during the winter months they get flaky but for the most part the rest of me is eczema free and the hands are pretty good. They haven't bled since a couple days after I started the Dupixient.

I had no idea you can’t take these steroid creams more than 2 weeks at a time and my younger two who have very bad cases of eczema develop darker patches of skin on their hands, feet. I am going to stop the steroids and even if I use it I won’t go more than two weeks and I’ll try the bleach baths. I learned so much from this short video. Is it possible for the damaged caused by steroids to leave if I stop lonterm use of steroids?
