How to trick a digital tach hour meter

Update: Not all chargers work the same. Make sure you're using a drill charger to increase your chances of making it work. Some chargers don't out put the same frequency and also bear in mind it has to be a lithium ion charger, not an old NiCad.

Than didn't work, but I found a simple solution: get a spark plug tester, setup the spark plug and insert the meter wire between the spark plug and the tester plug hole.

His hour meter died, hour meters count the engine run time of something like a dirt bike, lawn mower, anything with a motor really, and it only counts when engine is running. Well his hour meter died at 150 hours, so he bought a new hour meter identical to his old one, and he’s trying to get the new one to count up to 150 hours so when he remounts the new hour meter it will be working and starting at 150 hours so it’s accurate, and it will be leaving off where the old one was. Very simple. If he put the new hour meter on his machine, it would start at 0.00 hours which is not correct because it really has 150+ hours on it already. Hope this helps.

Tried 4 different chargers. And a TV aerial socket. Nothing seems to register. Any other ideas?

All you have to do is put the wire that registers RPM over the positive terminal of a ac charger either for lithium or nickel cadmium and it will read the pulses. This will make your hours Read higher.

@@nathanaelbas5289 thanks. Tried that, and it doesn't work for 4 chargers. That's just touching the terminal, not wrapped around it. Or does it need to wrap around it?
