i've been searching everywhere for these exact steps. i'm in the process of doing the exact same things to some windows in my house, and this certainly will facilitate it! Thanks for the video!

This dude is cool and VERY informative. I have watched a LOT of videos on installing door and window trim and I find this guy to be the most informative. Good luck going forward and look forward to watching more of your videos

Thank you for taking the time to break down each step explaining the process. I've looked into different types of trim and this exactly what I'll be doing because of the round over & cove detail. Trim work is kinda like adding accessories to a truck It's the little details that make it stand out. Keep up the good work

I like your attention to detail. You definitely "over" build, but that is what makes the difference on having to go back and fill in cracks and joints years from now. Pocket holes for the inside trim of the windows? WOW! You could survive an earthquake hiding in a window built like that! Window and Door trim is the worst for expansion and contraction. Especially with today's "seven year soft pine". You have shown a way that will avoid these problems later. Thanks for posting this!

Hi Feddie, Thank you so much for this video series. I have sent my husband to work, my son to camp, and you and I are going to install new stops and trim on my windows! I can't wait to see the finished product.

Thanks for the instructions. I am in the process of remodeling and was looking at the craftsman style. The three videos you have on the window and door will get me started in the right direction. I was going to put up each piece separately but building it as a frame first doesn't look half bad either.

Enjoying this series -- I'm using it as a basis for my own home project. Curious as to the size of the beading bit you used -- looks nice in proportion to the 1 x 4.

Awesome thx. Do you think I would be ok screwing from the bottom instead of doing a pocket screw. Your videos are awesome btw

Hello and thank you for your videos. I have actually used the "door" videos quite a lot as i play amateur carpenter and try to remodel my house in a similar style. I love your barn, that thing is awesome. My question is about my windows. I need an idea to do them in the craftsman style. They just have a "stool" or sill and a piece of trim underneath the stool. The rest of the window is outlines with painted drywall and I don't want to mess with that. So I'm just looking for ideas for the bottom

Just an idea, but wouldn't it be easier to shim it and nail it prior to putting the side panels on?

how long were the screws you used for the pocket screws on the extension jamb?
@granitestatemike

man I'dd measure to the drywall on both sides and maybe three spots - bottom middle top...but then again I work on old houses. Usually its fine but free ripping an extension is also pretty common on cape cod

Would it not be easier to trim this out piece by piece around the window rather than building a trim unit and installing it all as one piece at once?

What should I do with the stool when replacing existing trim with craftsman style trim? The bottom stool in the video is cut all the way to the window, but windows with existing trim already have casing (or jam) that comes all the way out where the stool is to be placed. Do I have to remove the jam?

Check out my video where I give a tour. This was before it was completely finished but it might give you an idea. There's just under 1000 square feet upstairs not counting the viewing tower. The bedrooms are 12X12 and 12X10. Big den. 23X13 as I recall.

That routed bead looks very similar to the chair rail backers they sell at the borgs. May be able to cut some time off by buying one of those.

I have a question. (If you are still checking this) My window is dry wall finished and goes back 3 inches to the window frame. Home Depot sells 4" and 6" wide wood. So in your opinion to make the stool stick out enough or not too much would I need to strip the 6" down or would the 4" work? Or what would you do in that case. Thanks in advance.

Questions for the top rail and dude pieces of the frame is it a 1x4 cut out to whatever depth the window is? O
@GotItMade
@GotItMade 10 жыл бұрын
Hector Perez Yes, the side casings are 1X4's. The jambs are cut to the correct width/depth for the window. I can't remember the how much they worked out too. I think I discuss this in detail in one of the videos in the series. Thanks for watching.

A few questions... after watching all three parts. How far did the stool extend in front of the wall? Also how far did the stool extend beyond the facing vertical piece? Looks like an inch and a half, but I did not get those measurements from your three videos.
