You are an old soul. Maybe you were a blacksmith or cowboy in a past life? Being a farrier is a pretty damn good living even nowadays. See how old this guy is-no offense to the OP-but thr in high demand, esp here in Ft Myers. Go to farrier school if you make less than 100k a yr in your current job! Thats how much my gal who works on my horses makes- 120k/yr!! Thats more than me & im a dental hygienist! The science has caught up with the profession. The farriers who are very good at doing corrective shoeing make a killing in Florida. Lotta showhorses owned by rich people with nothing more to do than figure out more ways to spend their money...Cheers mate!

Due to the ever rising cost of farrier work, ( and I sure don't blame them! ).. I have decided to do my own trimming (when my horses are not in shoes ) Im never sure how much to start to trim off at the toe. I'm always afraid I'll go to deep. So I don't take enough and end up raspinging instead, which doesn't seem to give the hoof the correct angle. Any suggestion? Thanks for your video. You make it look so dang easy!

I just started trimming my own. How do you “find your length”? Thanks for your time
@a5ranch594 Жыл бұрын
That’s a great question and I wish there was a simple answer. Soon on our website, we will start the virtual Farrier portion for people like you. Do you need to find the live sold app where it means the hook wall and that’s your distance easier said than done though.

@@a5ranch594 thanks. So you are saying where the live sole meets the hood wall? And that’s awesome can’t wait for the online trainings.

Such a difference from the Chinese videos showing the hoofs longer than a human foot before trimming them. The horses are in so much pain and can not walk properly

How do horses in the wild deal with their hooves
@iamziyahh3 жыл бұрын
They move around a lot so naturally they are worn down.
@Deej496 Жыл бұрын
Wild horses travel many miles a day forging and looking for water on hard ground, which naturally wears the hooves down. Some feral horses hoofs look like a farrier just trimmed them. Pretty cool.

I’d like to know what happens to the hoofs of wild horses?! Are they worn down naturally?!
@overryans3 жыл бұрын
They move more and eat less the only reason domesticated horses hoofs grow out and this is the same with most sedentary animals (dogs included) there nails aren't being chipped and ground down by walking around all day.
@kathleenhartnellharper72343 жыл бұрын
@@overryans Thank you so much! I saw a couple of videos where the hoofs where terribly overgrown and it really made me worry for the animals that don’t have a hoof trimmer.
