Cleaning dead parts of your plants also gives me an opportunity to spend a little more time with it and enjoy it. And removing dead leaves that cover the pot makes it easier to water the plants. Thank you for the videos

Hey!! Yes you are absolutely right on that! Getting rid of those leaves definitely makes it easier to water and any excuse to spend more time with them, I am all for it! I can’t get enough time with them, lol.

For heating your scissors I recommend one of those butane torches rather than a regular lighter. I find regular lighters can leave soot which may or may not be an issue. Just a thought. Thanks for the advice

I got a plant gifted that Had stemrot, i Watched another of your Videos and Cutted the stem down to a bright Green/White

That should work! It is a hard decision to make for sure and it will take time to bounce back but it is the only way to save the plant from stem rot!

I was wondering why my nepenthes is growing thin leaves and smaller pitchers. It’s a basil that I separated from the parent plant months ago and it was growing just fine but recently I noticed smaller, thinner leaves and smaller pitchers. All the conditions have been the same light temperature humidity.

Hmm interesting. When you say thin is it thinner in width like a Ventricosa leaf or thinner so as not as strong? How long has it been off of the mother plant? It may be acclimating to its new energy source as it is not getting the same amount of energy from the mother plant.

@@Carnivorousplanthelp yes, thinner in width. And not as long. Compared to the leaves before it. It’s been separated from the mother plans for a good four months now. I think it’s because I’ve been fertilizing the plants once a month with Maxsea and the dosage may have been kind of high. The ppm for the fertilizer I believe it said 230 ppm. I think I’ve seen videos that if you fertilize them too often, or with a high dosage with the nitrogen than the plant kind of recoils.
@Carnivorousplanthelp

Yeah that can make a difference and would explain the small pitchers for sure. If it is getting nitrogen from fert it will save its energy on pitcher production as it doesn’t need them.

I have 3 nepenthes that grow tall, have long stems in the leaf but do not produce pitchers. They look like they will, but don’t (I’ve had 3 small pitchers that die before they are 1/4 in). HELP!!

Also to add, they are in a cabinet with humidity 77% and air flow. Lights are timed. Using Maxsea for fertilizing.

Hey! Happy to help! How often do you use Maxsea on them? If they are getting fertilizer often the plant has no need to produce the pitchers so it will save the energy. The humidity is perfect for pitchers which leads me towards the fertilizer. One thing you can do is spray the tendrils as they are growing. That will help them along. Spray them every couple days with a light mist.

@@Carnivorousplanthelp thank you for responding. I use the maxsea two different ways. I water with it approximately every few months then I have a spray bottle with it once a week. Too much? The stems in each leaf are about 2” long with a small bud at the end. That’s as far as it gets.
@Carnivorousplanthelp
@Carnivorousplanthelp 8 ай бұрын
I think the once a week is probably what is keeping it from pitchering. The plant is getting all the nutrients it needs so it doesn’t need to produce pitchers. I would back it down to once every month or so and see how that goes. Keep me posted! I am happy to help any way that I can!

@@Carnivorousplanthelp do you suggest to spray it with just water? (I use distilled) the dang things are tall and look healthy for sure. I got it about 2 1/2 years ago and had to split it up it got so big

Hey! That is a great idea!! I would say Briggsiana for sure which is Lowii x Ventricosa. Those pitchers last forever and the plants pitchers a ton so it is the best of both worlds!
