What's the point of sewing the folded edge? It doesn't look like you use that when you actually fold up the edge?
@aerialkate6 жыл бұрын
bone_doc To stop the material fraying. The stitches are sewn closer together on a machine and are therefore more secure, but if you don't have access to a machine then you can use this technique. Or even avoid sewing the edge altogether, by just cutting the fabric using pinking shears (scissors with jagged blades) then ironing it well after folding. The jagged edge helps prevent fraying too.

Very useful video, thanks

Can also cut with pinking shears or turn over raw edge and sew down by hand or machine. Since it will be turned over one more time to stitch the blind hem, sewn raw edge will not show.
