Thank you for the video. We bought a very neglected denali that has 194,000 miles. It still had original equipment suspension. Shocks were blown years ago and who knows about the compressor? It was always soft in the back so I took on restoring the air ride. Even after replacing shocks and compressor I still had nothing. Using your video I was able to troubleshoot and found the relay was bad. They had also pulled the 40 amp fuse. Without your video I probably wouldn't have known which fuse was missing. I finally have a vehicle with a fully functional rear suspension. Thank you again for posting the video. You're a Godsend

I really appreciate you making this video and being so thorough. I originally saw it after buying a used Avalanche that had that whole system blown out. I did watch it all, but had my sites set on one of those "leveling" kits instead, thinking that would be an upgrade. VERY LONG story short, after 3 months of headaches, back-and-forth with suppliers and shock/strut versions, I came full circle back to this. (Plan D) Just finished the job last night--with your help! There were a few videos out there that were good, but they always cut out the most important part--how it all connects!

Now I bought an 09 suburban ltz and was able to diagnose the system using the video…replaced the compressor and shocks. Now the system works. I also replaced my problem system with a Suncore system. It lasted about 13months, likely less because I was unware of how often the compressor should actually run. It ran a lot. I reach out to Suncore via email. It took sometime but they eventually got back to me. They said they do not do warranty repairs unless installation was done by a certified mechanic. Luckily, my friend that assisted my installation is such. But they then same back with check this, check that, check this other thing. After about 10 emails and a few months of run around I am finished with them. I agree with Farm Dad dont purchase parts from Suncore. They are not reliable and their parts are junk; per my experience. thanks Farm Dad for the post.

Great video thanks for sharing. Side note: I had a OEM GM dealership front strut side by side with an Arnott they were Identical both made in Mexico by BWI only difference was GM part # and GM packaging vs Arnott label and packaging. The GM pair cost $800 more and had a 35% restocking fee for returns. My original struts from the factory original were a different part #, but the dealership did not have that part number on file and assured me they current one purchased was correct. Arnott are same as OEM GM however there may be different levels of quality. Good luck DIY people

I ran into the same issue with suncore. Their air pump failed after 6 months and they would not respond. I finally gave up and disassembled it. The rubber gasket was garbage and wasn't installed properly causing water to get inside corroding everything. I went with Arnott for the new pump and for their reman shock absorbers. The Arnott air pump is still going strong 9 years later. The Arnott shock absorbers lasted 9 years before the rubber started getting tiny air holes and leaking. The OEM ones only got 5 years before leaking. I'm good with replacing them every 9 years and was happily surprised they lasted that long.

Hey dude thanks a lot I've been wondering what the rattle is when I start my car as soon as I heard your noisy air pump it made me realize it's definitely my air pump every 5 minutes when I first start the car in the morning.

One of those weird car noises that you actually want to hear every time you start it! 😂

One clarification may be in order Farm Dad... It is my understanding that the "Air" components you address all throughout your video and text are actually NOT part of Z55 Autoride, but are instead part of the G69 AutoAir Level Control RPO code which is usually on the Denali and Escalade. Air only goes to the rear shocks. The Z55 Autoride suspension is the Magnetic (electric, not "air") components on all 4 front and rear shocks. (Some expert should please correct me if I'm wrong.) This was a very good video. I love your feedback about your horrible Suncore Industries experience too. Good to know!

It's my understanding that z55 is the suspension code, which refers to the autoride suspension where you are correct, computer-controlled shocks all around with air in the back. Z95 refers to the magneride suspension. Thank you for watching.

@@FarmDad Excellent, Farm Dad. Just found that Z55 in a 2007-up always includes G69 "level control" which is just the RPO code for the air compressor component bolted to the frame and pumps up the rear air shocks.

Question: If the jumper from #30 to #87 actually fired up the compressor, with the relay working as you tested, then where would you go? Each shock connector?
@FarmDad Жыл бұрын
Does it come on at startup? If it does, I would check the ride height sensors. If it doesn't, it could be your air ride module. It's best if you can pull suspension codes, which requires an advanced scanner. Sometimes it's worth paying a diagnostic fee at a local shop. Good luck.

Alright...ordered the shocks as you recommended and mentioned your "Farm Dad" recommendation. What pump do you recommend?
@FarmDad2 жыл бұрын
I know Vigor makes one, but I haven't used it. I don't recommend suncor but I think that's what's on mine at the moment. Afraid I don't have one to recommend that I know for sure is good.

Hey when you switched to the arnott shock did you get a traction control/ stabiltrac light on?
@FarmDad4 жыл бұрын
No I didn't.
@joeyschroter49774 жыл бұрын
I changed compressor and both rear shocks. And ever since I've had an intermittent traction control stabilitrak light come on when I come to a stop. Checked all connections and cant seem to get rid of it. Also had it diagnosed 3 times and they couldn't eliminate it either

Would you be able to answer a few questions about this gen GM suspension? Looking to buy a yukon/tahoe and the car i’ve been looking at has the service suspension light on.

Feel free to post your specific questions and I will see what I can do.

@@FarmDad Well I’m checking out this one specific car (2007 Tahoe LS) and the guy says there’s a service air suspension light on. I don’t think this car had air suspension but maybe it’s a hybrid between air and regular shocks. Anyways, if the car runs well and the 5.3 looks good and trans shifts well do you think it’s still worth buying? I’m a little hesitant because of the check suspension issue but the seller insists it’s nothing major. I find it hard to believe but wanted to check with you.

@@FarmDad also figured i’d mention it was an auction vehicle that is now being resold. no service history and 146k miles. if there’s anything I should look for when I go take a test drive tomorrow let me know. Thank you!

@@happybub9927 hmm, so much of this depends on how handy you are with cars. I think you are probably right that it's not an air suspension because I think it would need the ltz package to get the autoride shocks. Regardless, there's something wrong and it can be a hassle to troubleshoot without a tech2. Usually, if it's an easy fix, the reseller will fix it before selling it, so I'd be a little wary. In general those are decent trucks but they do have their issues. I can't remember what year AFM started, but trucks with that feature are prone to lifter failure, particularly around that mileage. Just something to research in advance.

@@FarmDad AFM started the exact year of this tahoe (2007). i am also looking at a 2007 Denali with 143k miles which will cost me about 4k more but it has the 6.2. i don’t know which is more reliable, but if i had to guess it’d be the 6.2. with that being said i’m sure it’s also a lot more to replace. i am, however, wondering if it would be possible in the future to swap a 6.2 with a 5.3? if i went the Yukon denali route would this be possible?
