I do not understand how masturbation and looking at adult content is not sexual misconduct. Celibacy is elimination of all of that. Because even though there is not another person there one is still doing harm to oneself.

Celibacy is within the 8 precepts but not within the 5 precepts! Within the 8 precepts one of the precepts is "no sexual conduct" In this context you would be correct. But tell me what is the harm that one does to oneself?
