Excellent! We just bought a MasterWorks 16/15c dulcimer for my wife after she took a liking and we rented one for while. Well it wasn't the most in-tune straight from the shop, so I'm pleasantly to surprised to find a tuning video straight from the master! :)

That depends on your particular instrument. Most builders provide a tuning chart that will lay out exactly which note each string is tuned to. If you have a MasterWorks instrument, you can find Tuning Charts on their webpage.

I noticed that when you're using your fingers to tune the dulcimer that you seem to place them about an inch away from the bridge. Is there any certain place on the strings that would be optimum for tuning?

You give quite clear instructions on how to tune this instrument accurately and safely but at no time do you explain what notes to tune the strings to. While you have explained the process of tuning the instrument, without knowing the notes, one can not successfully tune it without this knowledge.

This varies between instruments. You should have a tuning chart from the maker of your instrument. If you don't have one, they will almost certainly provide one if you contact them. If you CAN'T get one for your instrument, you may have to guess. In general, if you have a standard american style HD, the top marked bridge (every third bridge should be marked in some way) is USUALLY (not always) tuned on the right side to F, an octave and a half above middle C. That makes the left side of that same bridge (again, USUALLY) a C two octaves above middle C. Note carefully that I'm NOT referring to the top string. This is the top marked bridge, usually one or two below the top one. If your top bridge is also a marked bridge, don't guess. You have a non-standard instrument and you need to ask someone familiar with dulcimers.

i play guitar this works the same as a 12 string guitar its the same tune string t0 sound t0 match each top string i been l00king at Hammer Dulcimer i think they are k00l
