Jackson goes over how to tune a Sram derailleur as well as replace the cable on a Sram derailleur. Both these tasks are fairly simple and will help your bike to run smoother and make it more enjoyable. The derailleur in this video is a Sram gx DH, but all one-by Sram derailleurs works the same. We hope this video helps you get your gears running smooth and thanks for watching.

I've been struggling with getting my gearing set up properly for two weeks. This was the first set of instructions I've found (after at least 6 others) that showed how to route the cable at the derailleur properly. Thank you so much!

Sweet. Very helpful - especially showing how the inner cable loops around the clamp bolt. Best done with good lighting. Thanks!

Awesome! Installing Sram force 1 derailleur and didn't know the proper path (this little hole thingy) for the cable. Don't know why manufacturers make it so hard to find those information nowadays. You saved my day, thanks!

Thank you!!!! 3 cables in the bin tonight before I found this ....had not seen the small cam mechanism area I had to thread it through pre clamping. If you clamp straight to the nut without doing that you spend hours trying work out crazy shifting ...and swearing. What a releif when I found this !!!!!! :) also was tightening the clamp and snapping my cables. Star

Good video which confirms why my shifting was bad because the idiot that set up my new bike didn't push the cable through the hole in the second guide cam and also didn't set the high and low limit screws.

Thanks for “straight to the point “ vid, one question though, the gears shift very smoothly on the bike stand but as soon as I start riding it, it starts to play up. Mine is the old sram x9 model. And the issue is most pronounced between 3rd and 4th gear.

Your derailleur or hanger is most likely loose or bent, id check on that.

Question. On the GX how does one remove / replace the cable pulley? On the other models, its a pair of 3mm hex, but I can't find any info on the GX. Any help appreciated.

It should not need replacing unless something has happened to it. If it is broken I would say you may need to contact your local shop and see if they can sort it out under warranty.

would you recommend changing the hanger as well if it has been straighten too much in the past?

I personally run them until they break but that would be a smart move as preventative maintenance.

It went together easily in less than an hour. kzbin.infoUgkxHL1v1R3NE5x4KiYfyt8dnQmyNYz7qi5L Make sure the front fork is forward or the pedals will hit the front tire. Tires are both a little soft so it needs air before I ride it. The rear wheel didn't come with a clamp regular bolts hold it on. The front had the clamp. No scratches out of box. Rims are a little off with a slight wobble. They could have spent more time with the spoke tool fixing the run out. So far out of the box I'm happy with it. I did replace the pedals with a nice aftermarket set. After riding it a bit my A$$ is a bit sore so I ordered another seat. Overall I'm nearly 60 and didn't ride a bike in 30 years. I like my new 29" Schwinn. It will be used for casual rides with my friend.
