TYSM!!! I just put on my first low G and couldn't get anything to sound in tune with the pick up tuner. So I grabbed a clip on, set to C as you suggested, and now it rocks! TY! So relieved!

Thanks, Bernadette! So, I need to use the "C" or chromatic rather than the "Uc" setting on my clip on tuner....neat! I've been using the guitar setting to tune the low g string and then switching to chromatic to tune the other three strings. After my search on the internet I saw that the low g is equivalent to G3 and the guitar setting gave me that G3 so I would switch settings just to tune my low g uke. Using chromatic is much simpler. LOL

Hi Miss B, I bought the Enya Nova U Pro Black a year ago and I finally picked it up after seeing your 30 day challenge course which I am going through right now. I was searching KZbin for videos on downloading and setting up the NexG app from Enya but didn't find any. Also Enya comes with a free membership to the OK Musician app as well. I hope you can make tutorials for both of them since I didn't see any on KZbin and if you can demo the Enya Nova U Pro Ukelele built in amp and how you like to adjust them. Thank you in advance.

Hello Bernadette. You are looking good as usual and thanks for the info. I was going to ask about the frequency of the low G sound but I found it for anyone with using the pano tuner which is great the frequency for the Low G (G3) is 195.998 Hz.

Do you make any adjustments to the nut or bridge saddle when changing to low G? Does it matter that the diameter is bigger than the high G? Im a beginner and really enjoy your tutorials.

I have an Enya EUT MAD (tenor) in a high G tuning and love the warm sound. I also have a Deviser DDS 26 (tenor) with a painful high action. I'm planning to get that adjusted at our local music store, and consider replacing the white nylon strings with aquila (nylgut) and/or a low G string. Unfortunately, I'm not sure which songs sound better with a low G?!

it is really all about taste! Some people like to test every song they know on both ukuleles and develop a list of the songs they prefer on low G ukulele. I like to add low G whenever someone I am playing with has high G. It adds a little bit more variation and it sounds nice :)

Hmm. Maybe I missed it, but you did not explain how you know you are tuned an octave lower? Most tuners will show Concert A (or G in this case) with a number such as G4. I believe you would want to tune to G3 which is an octave lower?

Usually the tuner will automatically detect the sound as a G, even if it is in a different octave, but I like to set my tuners to the “chromatic” setting for this reason 😃

Hello. I recently purchased a Soprano Uke. My question is as follows: Why is a Ukulele strung GCAE instead of EADG like my Bass or GDAE like my Violin for example? I just find it puzzling that it has the High G at the String 4 position instead of at the String 1 position. I have never encountered an instrument strung like a Uke in my 35 years as a musician. Logic dictates that it should be strung CAEG but that isn't the case. This is a very new concept to me. Please. Any help is useful to this old musician. Thank you. Uke on.

Ukulele tuned G-C-E-A; the open E string is connected to the 2rd fret of the C string by a slur/tie. How is that played?
