I live in Hokkaido and >90% of my days are backcountry JaPOW. This is pretty much exactly how I tune my skis. Keeping it simple and not worrying about how sharp my edges are. My only issue is I got busted for tuning skis in front of my storage locker in the basement of my building. The other residents and the HOA don't like it even though nobody is ever in there. So now I have to tune skis outside on my balcony since the vapors of wax melting make my spouse feel sick. I bring tools with me on trips so if I am staying in an onsen with a ski room I can do any needed work there. But as often as not, I sleep in my car so then I am stuck doing it outdoors again. It's a small price to pay to ski JaPOW all the time. 😊

Great video Dane, could you do a vid on where to mount the bindings on powder skis (100mm+) and why you like it in that position.

Do you have any tips to rig up a makeshift clamp set up? I have a bench, wax, iron, scraper etc...

do you tune your skis at all when they are new as you would a park ski?

I usually wax my skis when new. Then to keep up general maintenance I de-bur and wax.

FYI, you don't have to rubber band the brakes on a touring binding
