Very happy with the DNK tune on my Bonneville T120. It dramatically improved fueling and throttle feel after deleting the catalytic converter. They were also able to unlock cruise control so I was able to successfully install it without a trip to the dealer.

Thanks for the feedback ! Where’d you really notice the improvements in terms of the powerband ? (Taking off, highways, etc)

@@britishcustoms There's a little extra "punch" past 3000rpm. But what really makes the tune worth it is all in the improved engine characteristics. The throttle is responsive & linear, the engine is much more eager to rev, and the low speed jerkiness is completely gone.

With the factory tune running quite lean (resulting in a hotter engine/exhaust system), a tune will help with a slightly cooler running temp.

2020 Triumph T120. British customs decat, V&H silencers and DNA air filter. I installed a DNK tune about 2 years ago when the bike was new and have since ridden over 40 thousand kms. The bike performs great. Most notably, the throttle is steady throughout the RPM range and all surging and twitchiness is gone. Top end power and pull significantly increased as well. I even went back to stock to see if it was all in my head and immediately felt the difference in a negative way. I also believe that as I racked up the km's the tune "settled in" quite nicely as the ECU fully adapted to the conditions that I ride in. Simply put, the stock tune is designed to meet emissions regulations. All the 12 minute tunes in the world won't change that. Triumph's hands were tied. I'm now contemplating buying the tune again only to see if it has improved even more since the two years since I bought it.

It'll definitely be better than stock but for custom application on both exhaust system and intake, we highly recommend a custom tune via power commander, ran off of a dyno

We haven't seen a bricked Liquid Cooled modern classic or heard of one bricking after an update but per TuneEcu, there are recovery steps for reprogramming for both gen3 and gen 4 ECU.

Hi there, You’ll find that the process is identical for the air-cooled bikes with the only change being that you’ll need a cabled connection. You can find a compatible cable here. www.lonelec.com/product/tune-ecu-kkl-interface-cable-lead-for-triumph-motorcycles/

Hey, unsure if this is the correct forum for this question, but here I go Currently have British custom turn out slip-on exhaust. Looking to add the British customs x pipe. All I have to do is get the get an OBD link and use TUNE ECU to upload the DNK tune onto the bobber? A simple plug-and-play process? In reference to the tunning chart, I assume "TUNE RECOMMENDED" means that a DNK tune would suffice, and a "CUSTOM TUNE" means that I would have to go to a Dyno? Correct?
@britishcustoms2 жыл бұрын
That setup is one that we don’t usually recommend as there is no baffling. May be good on the later side of the powerband but it’s not practical - and trying to tune for it might be tough. What we recommend for a straight pipe look is to check out our Drag Pipe full exhaust system which is a full exhaust system from header to tail end, baffled for sound and performance. From there, a tune will be required. When we say tune, it just means general revision of the stock MAP be it through a downloadable service like DNK or TuneECU via OBD->download->upload or a little more fine tune= Power Commander

ita necessari to make a custom flash depending on the exhaust system I have? It’s not necessary right off the bat which a few changes like exhaust/intake but we’d recommend it down the line to get the most out of your bike & its investments

I have an Android tablet, but it's an old one. I have a new phone, though. Anyone done this with a phone? I've heard that the newer ECUs are "locked" and that it takes a dealer or maybe some other level of shop to flash them. This makes it sound like anyone can do it. I have a 2022 Street Scrambler and want a remap after I get rid of the CAT.
@britishcustoms2 жыл бұрын
Per TuneECU, it works on an Android device but make sure to get the "full" version where you can actually upload maps as we believe the "lite" version can only download maps. DNK has also figured out how to work with the new locked ECU's as well with their tunes.

I have ordered the famous Street Twin Tec cam for my 2016. Will be combined with the X-pipe and a DNA air filter. Not sure how this will work without a tune. Ordered the fuel booster plug too, but I guess a tune will be better anyway. Are you still being restrictive when it comes to tuning this cam upgrade?
@britishcustoms2 жыл бұрын
Highly recommend getting it tuned, especially with a cam. Best bet with that cam would be a custom dyno tune assuming that you have everything you need (exhaust/intake/etc) & using TuneECU to remove the limitations placed on the ECU
@Daves_Man_Cave2 жыл бұрын
I had the 2017 Street Cup with TEC cam, x-pipe and air filter and it needed a custom tune. Was super lean up top, and super rich down low with the stock map. If you need a map for your setup, I can send you the one that I made. We spent several hours on the dyno getting it dialed in. I don't have the bike any more, but I have a copy of the map that I made
@mcplutt2 жыл бұрын
@@Daves_Man_Cave That would be very helpful 🙂
@jeffreygorodokin41122 жыл бұрын
@@britishcustoms Does the DNK tune come fairly close for the TEC cam? How much more do you think we could realistically squeeze out of a custom dyno tune? A lot of shops in the northeast won't touch Triumphs (even though I explain to them at length how a dyno tune has nothing to do with a brand).

Kind of a lame question but how does this effect my fuel economy. I’d still like to get a decent range out of my bike for when I do long trips.
@britishcustoms2 жыл бұрын
It'll vary, most importantly it's smoothening out your powerband therefore there's more useable power which can result in loss of MPG but at the end of the day, you have a very smooth running bike, getting your moneys worth ! For long trips (on hwy especially), it won't change too much unless you changed out sprocket, cams, etc.
