I use a 2”x10” board and screw several to it. Get 3-4 cookies per pass.

I did not think that the clamp would hold as well as it does.

I cut the same as you do. I like mine a bit thicker, about 1 1/2 inch. Ovals are less likely to split. Also if you do not need the bark to stay on, try using dry logs. Basswood ones are nice, but do not have much grain and are excellent for painting. Red cedar and walnut are great for clocks and plaques.

Nice yeah I cut a lot of cedar and walnut cookies. Drying them is the tough part

@@mrectordiesel I slow dry them in a dark room with no breezes.

Do you have mold issues? With no air stirring?
@davidtrutwin37903 жыл бұрын
@@mrectordiesel No, mold was not an issue. The logs were not fresh cut, a few months old. I did this with burls also.

@@mrectordiesel did you have a market for cookie cuts before you cut them, or did you have to find buyers? I'm about to get a mill and am looking at ways to make a profit. I appreciate your videos , thanks

I just trust in the spring time, weddings pop up all the time and having them on hand, especially dryer and non moldy cookies, they leap off the shelf so to speak. So no, I didn’t already have a buyer but every spring and summer of the year I have sold lots of them. Hope that helps

What are you going to try and sell them for?
@mrectordiesel4 жыл бұрын
Anywhere from 3 to 8$ each. I sold 25 smaller ones yesterday evening for $80. How many ever I have left over when my kiln opens up, I will stick the remainder inside and sell them for more$
