I wanted to update anyone on this thread who is freaking out over a Posterior baby... My sweet girl never turned. I did spinning babies and saw a chiropractor multiple times who specializes in pregnancy care. I was terrified of having a natural birth to a Posterior baby..... Anyhow, I made it to the birth center at 9cm dilated and did not experience any back pain ! She came in 3 pushes, I had the best birth experience. 😀 my biggest fear was the pain and I didn't experience as much as I expected. I highly recommend finding a chiropractor who specializes in prenatal adjustments to help prep your body. My provider helped make room and loosened up my ligaments for labor. Posterior babies don't have to end in a painful C-section or hospital birth.

I wish I had known to look for things like this for my previous pregnancy. (first time momma) The more I am learning now that everything is said and done, the more I realize that my pregnancy and labor experience was actually not so great, and was handled poorly by both the OB and some of the delivery staff. My now two year old boy was born posterior, which really extended my labor, even for a first timer. This was extremely helpful, and I will be utilizing this information in my next pregnancy! Thank you so much for sharing, it has actually brought back some of my confidence that I lost from my previous experience. :)

Anna this makes me so happy to hear. I'm so pleased I helped in some way for you to gain some confidence back. In your next pregnancy perhaps think about getting a private midwife or at least debriefing your birth experience with someone so that you don't carry the fear of other posterior birth in with you. x

I, unfortunately, found my first pregnancy to be exactly the same! It's such a shame how educated doctors are on the allopathic procedures used to treat the complications of childbirth that they have no education on the natural, physiological procedures that could be used to mitigate them! My first child was full posterior when I was induced and they had me flat on my back the entire 48 hours of labor and in a reclined, feet up position for pushing. The poor kid didn't have a prayer for turning around! He was finally delivered after 4 hours of pushing, but only following an episiotomy and vacuum assistance. He suffered a lot of head trauma and had to spend the rest of our hospital stay in the NICU. Had my medical team had any education on pelvic alignment or fetal repositioning, all of those interventions and subsequent complications could have been avoided altogether! I've since transferred my care to a better informed midwife who has successfully guided the 3 unmedicated, complication-free births of my other children, but with my son I didn't know these things were important or that it was possible for my doctor not to know about them! I was a first time mom and trusted my medical provider to have all of the knowledge required to know the best options for me. It's such a shame how infrequently that's actually the case, but that's what makes videos like these so important!

What can you do on the birthing ball to help with posterior positions? When you say rock the pelvis, what does this mean? X
@BettinaRae
@BettinaRae 6 жыл бұрын
I don't know that the ball would help all that much. You want to think about creating space in the pelvis so bub can turn so any position that allows your belly to hang will do this. I think when i said rock pelvis i was just referring to tilting the pelvis forward to make space. If you lay on your back with your knees bent you will feel a small space under your low back. Press your back into the floor and you'll feel your pelvis tilt forward. You want to do this same action while standing or on hands and knees. Hope this helps!

Hello. Thank you for your video. I'm due on July 10 but is my third so who knows maybe sooner. I'm getting nervous because baby still is sunny side up. I have 2.5kgs babies this one am told is not exception. Do you think because baby is so small If she doesn't turn will be easier(less painfull) labor because of the size!?
@BettinaRae
@BettinaRae 4 жыл бұрын
The best thing you can do is learn how to relax during labour to help it go more smoothly. Pain doesn’t really relate to size, it’s more connected to tension in the body. Work on releasing fears and softening your body. Sending you love and strength for birth. 🙏🏻💜

Hi. Is there a danger of putting a baby back into postirier by doing these excersices?
@BettinaRae
@BettinaRae 6 жыл бұрын
At the end of the day, babies will do what they want to do. These poses create the space for baby to turn but don't actually force them to do it. So no, doing these exercises after baby has turned will not put them back into posterior.

I wonder if I'm just someone whose babies insist on OP position. My first was not handled well and i ended up in an emergency C-section after hours of intense painful labor, the second ended in precipitous labor (VBAC of course) with only two pushes. I figured the second was a fluke and have been researching what to do about turning my third one who is also stubbornly OP. Maybe my body is one of those that can accommodate for that position. I'll still try to see if some of those moves will help either way. Thank you
@BettinaRae
@BettinaRae 6 ай бұрын
Hi Heather. It could definitely be due to an imbalance in your body (for whatever reason) making this position most comfortable for your bubs. Can you find a midwife or body therapist in your area who works with optimal positioning. There are some techniques you can do to help rebalance and release tightness to encourage baby to move. This video is definitely a great start.

I wouldn't worry about starting this particular yoga until at least 30 or so. It's perfectly normal for a baby to sit posterior and still turn on their own up to 35 weeks. (sometimes even later) All yoga is best practiced a couple of hours after eating because it can be uncomfortable on a full belly. Hope that helps.

Hi Bettina. Thank you for this video. My last pregnancy was a last min c section cuz i was induced at 41 weeks and the baby never turned in labor and remained posterior and I did not dilate beyond 3. I am 24 weeks. Can you pls share how can I go about ensuring that the baby is in optimal position?
@BettinaRae
@BettinaRae 4 жыл бұрын
At 24 weeks there is still lots of time for baby to turn. Mobility and alignment in the pelvis can help make Bubs path through the pelvis smoother. Practicing pregnancy yoga helps with this as well as making sure you keep good posture.

I am 41 weeks + 5 days today and found out only yesterday that babe is OP with a hand next to the head.. which is why the head is not dropping (currently at 4/5) i have been doing lots of exercises to try and help move baby, just wondering if you have any advice about waiting.. they automatically book you for induction at 42 weeks in ireland but I really want to go into labour myself.. 😢 but also starting to feel impatient and like I'll be pregant forever haha! Is it likely that the hand will move and allow the head to drop just doing these exercises for a day or 2? Thank you ❤

Some of the times yes. Im almost 38 weeks and up until now my baby has always been on correct position. Today we found out she turned and now has her back to my right side instead of left... How often should I make this exercises, and when should I stop? Don't want to help her turn just to over do it and have her switch again.. also will this help if she has her cord around her neck? Is there any risk of her having a second turn around the neck?
@BettinaRae
@BettinaRae 4 жыл бұрын
Having her back to your right side shouldn’t be a problem. And in most cases bub will turn when it’s time for labour anyhow. It won’t hurt to do these exercises everyday for half an hour or so to give your baby space (they can also help to give you room to breathe as bub gets bigger too). The cord can’t be helped, however lots of babies are born with it around their neck. It is quite stretchy. Stay focused on the positive. Your body and your baby know what to do.

@BettinaRae

At 29 weeks you still have plenty of time for Bub to turn. If your back is hurting it is likely from the hormone relaxin releasing your joints. Try a gently yoga class to stretch and strengthen the back.

Mam iam 38th week 3days today,my doctor told me your baby is head down with posterior position,he give next checkup on 20th February,so how can I turn my baby in anterior position mam please tell me mam😢.i do all exercises like squat, malasana , butterfly exercise,inversion method, walking for 40min daily but now i stopped squat and Butterfly exercise,malasana. Now i doing only cat cow phose and walking and rebozo method with help of my husband is it enough to turn my posterior baby to anterior position 😢😢
@BettinaRae
@BettinaRae 6 ай бұрын
You want to think about making space. So anything on hands and knees is great. Rather than reclining back on the couch can you lie on your side and use pillows to support. Or use a bean bag to lay resting forward. Rebozo on your hips while in hands and knees can be helpful to soften pelvis and relax tension in pelvis which may be holding baby in position. Some babies won’t turn until labour and some babies won’t turn at all.

Hi, i am not sure that my baby is in posterior position..so if the baby is in anterior position and if i do these exercises, is the baby gonna change the position?
@BettinaRae
@BettinaRae Жыл бұрын
Baby will find the best position based on space available. Making more space in the body is unlikely to get them to turn posterior if they are not already. Your midwife or dr should be able to tell you their position.

Is it possible to give birth thru vaginal delivery even of my baby is in posterior position? This is my 3rd baby and I delivered my 2 babies vaginal delivery so i don’t want to have a c section. Thank you!
@BettinaRae

Yes you can still have a vaginal birth it’s just not considered ‘ideal’. But trust that baby knows what he / she is doing. There is sometimes a reason for them choosing that position. And yes these are safe for you to do now. Sending you love and strength for birth. 🙏🏻💜

28 weeks is still really early and bub still has plenty of time (and room) to turn. Best thing you can do is just visualise your baby as head down. It is most likely that he/she will turn on their own.

Hi Zenia. You can definitely still try for a VBAC with a posterior baby. The bright side is that he/ she is head down - that's great! It's not unusual for babies not to engage until the last minute before labour. Without knowing why you ended up with a Caesarian last time I would say it's worth trying for. Is there someone near you who specialises in VBAC that you can get advice and support from?

No. I m from pak and c section has become very common now a days. Doc told me that your bone is not so good but not narrow and your baby also not dropped uterus is not open yet and if you go in labour naturally before Monday that is 25 june then we will try but after that you should go for c section. I m very confused and don't want another c section. Can you send me any powerfull video for baby dropping or labour pain. Because I have only 3 days left to decide.doc gave me 27 june for c section but adviced not to wait for 27 because its useless for me to wait. My first baby is 3 and half years old. I want to experience the natural vaginal birth. Plz Guide me

I haven't made any videos on VBAC specifically. As for dealing with labour paid, the best tool you have is using the breath. kzbin.info/www/bejne/o5LFk6B-jrh6p80 It is not uncommon for a pregnancy to last longer than 40 weeks so you can always decline the section and wait the extra week. Your body may naturally go into labour later. Good luck.

My midwife told me that in your last c section my doc made a stitch on uterus mouth. And because of that stitch iwill not go into labour and uterus mouth will not Open so I should go for another c section. Is that possible?

It's unusual. This is definitely out of my range of expertise though. If you're doubting your doctor or midwife perhaps it's time to get a second opinion?

I swear some nurses are just useless and my due date is tomorrow... I don’t want any complications with this birth 😩 I’m scared now I’m just now hearing about all of this
@BettinaRae
@BettinaRae 4 жыл бұрын
Don’t be scared. Practice your relaxation breathing for birth and spend the next few days making space in your pelvis. Trust that your body and your baby know what to do. Tension in your body doesn’t help labour to progress so do your best to relax as much as possible. Sending you love and strength for birth. 💜

@BettinaRae

You can definitely still do this. Some babies turn during labour so it’s never too late. You can also request a second opinion or simple ask to wait for another week if there is no medical reason (nothing wrong with Bub or you) to induce. Going into labour naturally tends to be a better experience.

I wouldn't overdo inversion if your baby lays breech often late in pregnancy my sixth did anyway,some babies can 'cork screw' down out of posterior during labour by the forward lean hip rocking in contractions you showedMy second cork screwed down an hour before delivery and he was ALWAYs posterior in pregnancyMy first was ALWAYS posterior also and never moved almost got stuck in delivery because I followed midwife instructions to stay in bed as posterior labours were long and I'd need my rest also pushed me to have an epidural thankgoodness I declined yes they are long labours if you recline and don't have an active labour it can end with failure to progress worst advise evvvver
