This is an excellent tool. Something you should note are the possibilities of a bass-high exciter: if you isolate JUST the signal coming out of the linear EQ, you can boost the bass and the highs (low shelf/high shelf basically) and the intermodulation from the bass in the signal will make the highs "ripple". You can increase the amount of bass or highs in the exciter to accentuate this effect to perfection. Despite being quite quiet in isolation, this trick adds enormous perceived mass to any master bus, without really changing the bass, mids, or highs in any destructive way.
@kasai1575Ай бұрын
I tried this out, and it sounds pretty cool! Can you explain what you mean by "intermodulation from the bass in the signal" though? I'm not sure I understand why the effect happens as you've described it.
@SiliconPrairieАй бұрын
@@kasai1575 Essentially, the distortion caused by the dominant low frequency of the kick is compressing the submissive high frequency content in the slightly boosted high end. The peak of the kick phase is when the signal is being compressed the most, so it's almost like applying a tremolo effect to the highs at the frequency of the kick.

Isnt this the same as having a bp or hp and then sending the result into distortion?
@bixenterАй бұрын
will be the same just limited to that shape. With the shown way you can have a complex curve. You still will need to have a difference split after the BP/HP to have a feature author talking about.
@mleucАй бұрын
yes and no it's like saying isnt a bandpass the same as a full on parametric eq, even outside of this context. if it was people would just use bandpass instread of eq. the real interest here is on one side how precise you can be because of the parametric eq, and on the other the bit interest is that it's customisable af, so you can do it with whatever tools you want in whatever setups, there is much much more you can do with this concept than what i'm sharing in this video
@bixenterАй бұрын
Why do you use Fruity Send for the path?
@kasai1575Ай бұрын
If you want to combine two signals in patcher, you have to send them through a plugin. So Fruity Send basically just serves as a blank plugin to combine the signals from the inverted signal and the EQ'd signal.

Je ne comprende pas 😂 Show me how this can be used. I don’t understand the point of creating random glitchy sounds. I like how skilled you are at Parcher though, I haven’t dug into it myself
@Mopark25Ай бұрын
Experiment! Use this technique on your own sounds and see if you like it
@mleucАй бұрын
on one side it's really useful to add content in a frequency range really precisely. this could be just to make a signal noiser and richer or lil more agressive souding. Or just to fix an issue, ever was in the position where you need more of a freq range on a sound but eq makes it sound worst? exciters might be your solution, with this setup you can build one with any plugin you like, which mean you'll get different results from the premade options you can find on the market that works in similar ways On the other side just do whatever the fuck you want with it haha, random glichy noise are cool if you want to make random glitchy music, boost the subs and the highs like crazy and you'll get really crunchy top end layer, create a big peak and see how some resonances will get picked by it and distort in a cool abrasive way... it's up to you at the end of the day

1:46 if you dont mind the phase shift but don't want the boost sound you can do cuts instead
@mleuc18 күн бұрын
@@Francisco12G I'm not sure what you mean. If you mean emphasis deamphasis, this trick is meant to avoid having to do that, cause afaik reaper is the only daw capable of doing it well with mapping 2 eqs with opposite parameters
@Francisco12G18 күн бұрын
No I don't mean emphasis/deemphasis. I mean instead of doing a boost you do a cut. There will still be a difference (won't cancel what you are cutting) and you could isolate just that part of the spectrum and distort it the same way you do with a boost but without the added boost sound@@mleuc
@mleuc16 күн бұрын
@@Francisco12G no it will be the same, tho the boost will be phase flipped by 180, so partially canceling with the untouched signal that doesnt go through the distortion stage. So it wont give exactly the same result
@Francisco12G12 күн бұрын
@@mleuc it doesn't give the same result with or without distortion or any other effect. Phase is also related to gain, that's why if it's not the same volume it doesn't cancel perfectly. With that said silence is the result of cancellation but that doesn't mean the signal it's not there! You should try it!
@Francisco12G12 күн бұрын
My apologies, I've been experimenting with only working with the delta signal and when you blend with the original you get the expected result with a cut or a boost as you said. I also noticed you are using linear phase eqs! Sorry for the mess. Cheers
