I realize that it's just my opinion and not worth much but I very much appreciate a channel like yours that doesn't show the same stagnant content time after time. You have one of my favorite channels because you include a variety of topics and throw in humor and often the perfect music as you continually do interesting things. Thank you for doing your thing your way, it really is better that way especially when it's what you actually want to do.

Cody, you brought up a great point in this video. Too many people nowadays have their minds set, so much, on being careful or cautious that they are simply unable to finish all of their work. We as humans need to (sometimes) worry less, bare down, and just get the work done.

TOTALLY AGREE w/home vet abilities....my family like yours considers our pets to be a family member, we too would NEVER haphazardly put them at risk to "save a few bucks", with that written, our daughter has worked for a vet, she has trained and learned quite a bit, if our dogs have an issue we call her and, follow her guidance, it has ALWAYS been the way to go. Our son is a BSA Eagle Scout, has volunteered for 6 years for a small county fire department and is now going to school to become their full time Paramedic, he is more then capable to care for basic wound issues for his family (human/animal).....we have become a society of dependency.........KUDOS for taking The Path Less Traveled........It not only saved you a vet bill, it saved Ms Pants from unnecessary trauma from having strangers work on her and Jack was there to learn as well.......I'm on YOUR side, WE CAN make a difference, in many areas of life and build a stronger Community of Self Sufficiency, giving strength to our family/friends/neighbors.....KEEP UP the GREAT EXAMPLE!!!!!

A little story for you Cody. I've been in the IT world for many years. When my son was old enough to help, I had him watch & then assist with PC builds. Then when he was a little older & his PC would have problems, I would help him to fix them. Now he's a manger in IT at a big Tile manufacture. SO Cody I'm sure that Jack will end up as a fine man. AS he has a great family & good role models.

It comes as no surprise that you had adverse comments on putting "Miss Pants" back together as we are in a society of we can't or not allowed to do a lot of things, mainly due to Health and Safety. Our predecessors carried a lot of these types of repair due to cost of vets and also distances to vets. You are quite right about making the "call" you know your capabilities and the procedures job done. Looking forward to the next project, keep up the good work.

Your explanation of a ship and boat is one of the ways to describe it. I always was told and repeated this that ship float in the Navy and boats sink. That is a sip in a surface vessel and a boat is a submarine, hence that is why we call our surface fleet ships and our subs boats.

With regards to doubters, I find that so many people approach a situation and if they don't know how to address it, or lack the information, they just automatically accept defeat. People seem to have no resourcefulness, they won't even try things. This seems to apply to most areas. I'm of the mindset of; find the info, investigate, and give it a shot. I don't know if it's laziness, or just an inability to see beyond current knowledge or experience. It infuriates me. I'm not special or anything, I just hate being told I can't do something without having tried. Or "that's the way we've always done it". Anyway I'll stop ranting. I love you're mindset, you make do with the tools you have or improvise and get the job done, try new things, Even failure provides good experience. God bless you and your family.

I agree about the "sissies." Our society has been structured to make people dependent and self reliance is a vanishing trait. Those people who don't have it don't understand it, and they would likely die if the power grid ever went down. I think Hank Williams Jr said it best, "A country boy can survive." Don't mind the naysayers who haven't a clue, because those of us who can do for ourselves, do. Maybe someday, having seen it done, just perhaps, they will learn that they can do for themselves as well.
@edsmelly8 жыл бұрын
Yeah, because it can't be that most people already have enough to do during the day without having to cut their own fucking lumber.
@CplSkiUSMC8 жыл бұрын
Not arguing that. Question is: could you cut your own lumber if you absolutely had to? Could you stitch up your dog's wounds if you absolutely had to? Or perhaps yourself or your spouse or child? Could you feed them without a grocery store? It's simply a matter of everyone gets into the daily work grind and they learn to do their own particular job well. That fits into a network within society where everyone's skills serve others' needs, but few possess the basic "Jack of all trades" skills required to survive on your own that go beyond the trappings of our modern lifestyle that everyone takes for granted. The premise is this: if you got transported back in time to the year 1500AD (the time of the Spanish explorers), could you survive? If the apocalypse happened tomorrow and you were one of the 1% of humanity that initially survived, could you continue to survive? You would find that you would either learn to become self reliant in a big hurry or die. I would encourage everyone to take some off work time and start learning some of those good old fashioned life skills again. It's actually quite enjoyable to learn bushcraft skills and make a hobby out of them. There are lots of great channels here on KZbin that demonstrate these skills... even in your own back yard. I'm working on wild edibles right now myself which I consider critical to survival in a SHTF situation. It's relaxing and rewarding.
@liorajimenez30858 жыл бұрын
Psst ... ;-) if we have time to sit online watching KZbin, play games, and watch TV, then we have time to cut lumber, plant gardens, and learn "old" skills. My gardening lessons are done, now learning canning and raising chickens. I hope to find a "using a wood burning stove to cook/bake" course near here, soon. Home Depot had classes for basic skills (lumber, plumbing, etc.). Maybe you can start there?
@CplSkiUSMC8 жыл бұрын
I think you will enjoy cooking on a wood stove immensely. It's a little different and a little slower, but for some reason, meals always taste better cooked on a wood stove. I would probably wait to try that until about October though, they really heat up the house.

One thing I have always kept in my first aid kit: They are - 1) Individually wrapped 2) Sterile 3) Absorbent 4) Easy to create a compression bandage 5) Inexpensive 6) Readily available As a former Trauma Tech I found that the large _old-style_ maternity pads (FHP's) are the absolute best. If you remember, they were used in Vietnam. (Okay, they were Army Green and I don't know if they were made by Kotex®, but *VERY* similar) The ends can be tied and a stick can be inserted and twisted to make an effective pressure dressing. I never leave home without them in my first aid kit. My 2¢.
