I watched a video recently where one of the new metrics for new cars was how long it took to disable all the features. Modern times I guess. I think on a regular/premium Forester you just turn the auto-stop/start off and it stays off. I turned it off and it has not shut down at a stop sign. Several other features are also supposed to be sticky but haven't tested them but will because things like lane detect are just dangerous and while Subaru isn't as aggressive about bumping back into the middle of the lane as other manufacturers they still do it which has put me into near collisions with cyclists and vehicles turning right/left who are swinging wide back into my lane as they make their turn. I also tested to see what would happen if auto-correct was left to it's own devices and the answer is within a few corrections there is a good chance you are going to exit your lane at a pretty aggressive angle either off the road or into oncoming traffic.

Hi Alex, I watch your videos all the time. I am loyal Subaru customer. I have a question and maybe you have heard of this issue already. I purchased a 2025 Subaru Forester Touring back in September. Recently found out (when I tried use it for the first time) that wireless charger won't work with iPhones 14, 15, or 16 because their cameras don't allow the phone to lay flat on the charger and if you put a case on the phone, the case precludes the phone to interact with the charger so it won't charge either. Took it to the dealership and they told me and wrote on the report that it's a design flaw on Subaru. Subaru Customer Advocacy gave me a coupon but that did not help solving the actual problem. I hope they will fix this for the 2026 model and maybe give the option to get it fixed on the 2025 model, too. Do you have any news on potential solutions for this issue? I will appreciate your feedback!
@alexpmo2 ай бұрын
That's interesting! Not sure what it could be, but here are a couple things I would try if you haven't done so already. Be sure the power button is on. It's in the base of the charger pad towards the right. It'll be lit up green when it's on and should turn to orange when it's charging. I have the iPhone 14 pro max and it charges with or without the case. Granted, my case is pretty thin. If you've already tried this and it's still not working, I'd test another phone to see if you can get another phone to connect. Lastly, if you can't get another phone to connect, that would tell me it's likely a hardware issue with the charging pad itself and at that point I'd get with your subaru service dept to remedy.
@sws7632 ай бұрын
@@alexpmo We have both iphone 14 and 15 and they charge in our 25 Touring. It could be the type of case that you are using. We use Magbak cases as other cheaper cases prevent induction charging.

Subaru needs to allow you to default the simulated fake shifts to off. I hate the fake shifts & it's far less fuel efficient. It's ridiculous that this can't happen already. It's just software creating useless & less efficient fake shifts. Also, the screen is extremely inefficient to use. It's amazing how other car manufacturers can get it right, but Subaru can't make the large 11.3" screen far more efficient to use. Just going between maps, radio, phone, etc. takes far too many distracting & unsafe steps. Again, this is another ridiculous thing that Subaru does. Allow the creation of split screens & custom screens would easily solve all of this. Again, cheap software updates would fix both of these issues.

I agree with you… the stupid GOVERNMENT shouldn’t be messing with what we buy… that includes CARS!!! The problem with this “pilot-check” setting is that if the sun is shining a CERTAIN WAY (ie: early morning sunrise, high noon), my face is NOT recognized!!! As a photographer, my take is there’s not enough contrast definition in facial recognition with sun’s direction as it is for the system to scan face properly.. I have TWO setting sett for myself, to include the bucket hat I have to wear at times of bright sun… NOT EVEN **THAT** IS FOOLPROOF!!!!! It’s ANNOYING!! Shouldn’t have to play “rescan” five times, trying to shield rays from my face… and, then, I shouldn’t need to push “yes”/“no” to auto-setup… then the “settings complete” screen stays on too long, unless I dismiss that too!!! When Orange Man’s tariffs raise the costs of everything by 20%, including cars and gas, that’s not going to matter because who needs money, anyway? What SUBARU *REALLY* needs to do is to learn how to control the *SUN* so that it doesn’t shine through the windshield and affect the ability for the cameras to see the driver’s face. What I really *HATE* about this feature, though is that the GOVERNMENT can turn those cameras on any time and see what you are doing. That, along with the navigation and the EyeSight means they can SEE you, know where you ARE and control your car 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. *THEY’RE COMING FOR YOU HENK!*😂

Wouldn't it be sweet if the settings you modified on your expensive car were respected after restarts? Subaru says NOPE.
