This video has saved my LIFE multiple times...not even exaggerating. I got an i9 7900x a couple of years ago and every time Windows update re-enables core parking my PC gets plagued with BSODs...it took me weeks to figure it out the first time, then I finally found this video and it fixed it! About every 9 months or so it happens again and I always remember to go back to this video. I've now created reminder documents on all my devices with that key so I can find it in the future. This guy deserves a medal. Seriously man, if you ever read this...you are that guy whose random act of kindness helped save a strangers entire career (I make art on the computer for a living, when my PC doesn't work right I can't make money) I can't thank you enough. You are a life-saver...literally.

If you have an enthusiast or gaming laptop and a gaming pad? Turn of core parking and don't worry about it. If you have a "air" type thin laptop? Thermals will most likely limit you no matter what and you might save on battery life having it on. These thin laptops might have a nice CPU in them but that cpu is never going to perform like it's supposed to outside short bursts. If you are worried about it at all you can use something like HWMonitor or coretemp. Both are free. Take the high on CPU cores with core parking on in whatever program or game you play and with it off. You can always change it back to on simply by putting the default 64 there. Rendering video and gaming in really CPU intensive games like a MMO or Minecraft is where temps are an issue. Outside that core parking off can actually just speed up normal use now that we have better threaded API's like DX 12 and Vulkan. Windows store apps (outside the bigger games) aren't going to break a PC with temps, but more cores could make em a little more snappy. I don't know if anyone has ever tested it, but I imagine in newer apps temps are actually better with more threads because one or two cores isn't maxed out and CPU's get much more efficient at lower clocks, just like GPU's. On desktops with proper airflow and cooling no one notices any temp increases and CPU's control the voltage and frequency changed really well all on their own.

Is it true that windows 10 is already unparked the cpu on default (64 valueMax). Because when the value is on 64, i checked in the resources monitor all the core is not writing "parked" like it did before in windows 7 default value 64. So on windows 10 with 64 value it still showing no parked core and 0 value also show no parked core. I'm confuse here.
@hackintosh38994 жыл бұрын
64= parking is enabled under value max. 0 = parking is disabled. Parking is also not evident in all applications. I have never seen cores parked in something like cinebench where in games or rendering there can be problems. Things like Windows 10 game mode may fix that but game mode can introduce other problems.
@ImHeadshotSniper2 жыл бұрын
you're correct Amir. Hackin Tosh is not. when set to 0, core parking will be enabled.

I was hopeful this would stop my new pc from CPU spikes while idle or just browsing ect... But it hasn't. It will be sat normal for a minute or so and then slightly ramp up by 9 - 10 degrees celcius very quickly and back down again. It's like it takes a quick breath.. Nothing in processes show anything going on to cause this. AMD ryzen 5 3600 ...Noctua NH-U12S cooler and ASUS ROG Strix B450-F board. If anyone has any ideas it would be cool to have it sit idle and stay idle.
@hackintosh38994 жыл бұрын
Some bloatware or outdated driver or mouse or sound software is most likely the culprit and if you went to a big new Windows feature update and didn't update all the drivers this can happen. Unparking cores or even using the AMD scheduling software won't help that. I would start with a modern Windows 10 patch (which has better AMD scheduling) then GPU. Use DDU in safemode and install that fresh, then make sure the mouse and sound software is updated. Update and close all the apps running in the background like stores (Steam, Uplay etc). If all that fails, with PC's you always want to remove as much as you can and then add things back one by one. Turn off everything you can. Sometimes software from Razor or whatever just sucks for awhile. Worse case scenario the Windows install is just busted. That can also happen as Windows 10 has features and API changed around so much that sometimes people just have things break. Anyways good luck man.

speedstep can be enabled with cores unparked. however, i recommend undoing what is shown in this video, because it actually ENABLES core parking (check yourself in Task Manager > Resource Monitor > CPU, and you'll see that your CPU cores will say "PARKED" next to them.)
