This doesn't work anymore. Anybody who has written about or made a video about getting rid of GA, Google fixed it where the fixes don't work anymore. I turned off every thing every where. And still get a message that I need to tap my screen and some other BS so Google can access some of my apps. That voice interrupts my music, repeating for up to 60 seconds and then fast forwards my song selection. I gave Google a 1 star review because of it.

are you still having that problem if so depending on the layout of your phone go into your settings and you should see apps and notifications click on that and then it should say apps installed then click that and scroll down until you see a colorful capital g click on it and disable it that's all I had to do pretty much and I no longer have that issue and one more thing go into voice in your settings and make sure that your microphone isn't turned on hope this helps you

@@matthewsanders7382 well i actually talked to someone at google and they told me to delete the google app the one with the colored G and also slide the bar on the microphone so that it doesnt have access to be used and its been about two weeks now and so far mine has not been asking me to turn the assistant on which made me so happy so if i was you i would try that cause so far for me it has worked

what kind of phone are you using model wise because on my Motorola e5 play all i had to do was click on settings and then it should say apps and notifications and then it will say apps installed click on that and scroll down I miss spoke I'm sorry I didn't mean totally delete it I meant to say you can disable it the one with the capital g its all colorful and also be sure to make sure that your microphone isn't turned on make sure its off that's what they had me do and I have had no more problems with that annoying notification my phone actually stopped bringing it up once I did what the google people told me to do also if you ever want to speak with google people if you have the google 1 app you can have them call you hope this helps you out

I dont know what version of android he is using but on my phone (android 8.0) it does not look like the video. You have to go to your phone settings - google - account services - search assistant & voice - google assistant - general. Then from there you turn the toggle for assistant off. On a side note isn't it funny that it takes 7 steps to disable assistant and only 2 steps to activate. Silly google!

On my Sony Xperia XZ2 Compact, you have to select Account services from the Google menu in order to get to Search, Assistant & Voice. So an extra step that isn't in this video.

Another solution (eg if you're now pestered by requests to turn Google Assistant back on) is to change the language settings. I chose a language with a different script (I think it might be Sinhalese) to be sure it was far away from English. Seems to be working so far

Poco X3 just bought. Setting up forced me to switch on Assistant plus Mi Account. Tried all settings but my UK version differs on setting up options. I done a Factory reset & this time was careful in what I selected. It does trip you up. I didn't set up my complete Google & it worked, no Assistant or Mi Account. Then once my WiFi was set up I finished the complete Google set-up but be careful what you select. FREE AT LAST!!!!!!! Now Finger reading which doesn't want to know. The full circle on the back is much better but all you nerds hate wasting a split second!

It never use to do this or be so sensitive, but, for instance whenever I ask the regular Google Search (not Asst) I'll say the name of a movie I want to search info on and suddenly Google Asst tries opening Max or Prime or whatever to play the movie!? It's ridiculous actually. So now when I want to search a movie on Google Search I say movies name followed by cast that's the only way Google Asst doesn't butt in and open Max app and play movie. For instance if I wanted to search Google Search about the oleJFK movie I'd say _JFK, cast_ and that brings up it's info of the cast first then I click overview tab. Hope I'm making sense. It's very annoying. And it never use to do that. Odd.

The last time when google assistant did ask me something I did yell loudly - Shut the f**k up and don't disturb me! Google did reply - Did you mean it? I said - Yes I mean meant it. Google asked - Are You talking to me? I yelled - Yes I am talking to You google dont dare to disturb me anymore, shut the f**k up! Since then I never had this problem. And I can peacefully type my questions without annoying google voice assistant.

Came back to say I found a MUCH MUCH FASTER WAY. At the bottom of the android there are three ghosted icons, a triangle to the left, a circle in the middle, a square to the right. Press and hold for one second the circle. Google Assistance automatically opens. You can turn the button off immediately without going here, there and everywhere to do it. You're welcome.

To some, this isn't a fix. Saying.. OK Google and bam, it opens. In Apps, where Google is at.. I disabled the Permission for them to use my mic, phone, gallery.. blahblahblah. That worked like a charm.. I can now yell, OK GOOGLE.. and it doesn't even flinch... At last. Life has meaning again...
