The reason that they push this app so much is buried deep in the settings you are actually granting them access to everything including any bank or investment accounts apps. Google is trying yo bypass apps that are encrypted so that they can know your account balances or stock portfolio. Google is not a partner, they are a criminal enterprise

You have to go to the General settings under the Google Assistant page to turn the assistant ALL the way off so it doesn't pop up. Not just the wake

Make sure you update the process after each major update. It seems they keep making it harder and harder to find the turn off switches.

Indeed. To get to "Search, Assistant and Voice" you now need to go to "Settings for Google Apps" in the Google option.

Google assistant is absolutely annoying. It keeps pausing videos and keeps making a beep sound and saying what the time is when I can literally see it above my screen. This is one of the main problems that I can't get out of.

Having a problem with this currently on android, toggled off the assistant in google app AND turned off its microphone permissions in app settings, no effect. Tried restarting phone as well. Assistant makes me double tap everything to access it and sometimes opens random things.

The home button when pressed slightly longer than very short will remain dedicated to Google's Assistant though, it is the fact it pops up 20 times a day without being desired that makes me want to switch it off but now a similarly annoying message telling me thar I CAN SWITCH IT ON keeps popping up, it is hopeless!!

Google assistant turned on somehow, and now I can't get to my apps. I can barely make a phone call. Swiping doesn't work, so I can't get to any apps or settings. So right off the bat, your advice does me no good. I can open the Google search app and get to settings, but see no options for Google Assistant, and scrolling isn't working either. So it might be there, might not, how the hell would I know. At this point I'm inclined to think my phone is just broken. I want to smash it on the hardest surface I can find. Easier my ass.

@@keilana6 It was the way I was holding my phone. Hard to recall, that was half a year ago. But I think I held both volume buttons for too long. Doing it again fixed it. The problem with phones is they're too small for accessories like a keyboard and mouse, so they rely on touch controls. Mostly the screen, but also those buttons. It makes them prone to unintentional, therefore unpredictable, behavior. Mind you, kb/m are also a kind of touch control. But they are far more tactile. So you're less accident-prone using them. Nothing can save you from a wandering cat, though...

Have you tried at least searching for other videos here to discover that this silly method has been advised for many times already. And there are on fact more sophisticated ways to fucking disable this shit off.
