How to Turn on Gas Fireplace

I bought a condo last year in February of 2022. Almost going to be 2 years very soon. My condo actually came with a gas fireplace which is awesome. The first thing I did was go to your video and it helped me understand more about my gas fireplace even how to turn it on and off how the pilot light works. I thank you for posting this video for anybody who owns a house a condo with a gas fireplace you've been very helpful👍😉

Bless it. After a month and half finally figure out that my husband hand took that outside silver handle (gas key) and turned it to off. I was steady doing the steps on the fireplace. Thanks.

Should the gas be turned off with the key ? When the fire place is not being used and the pilot light is off ? I had a fireplace guy tell me to leave the gas on at all times. So I did that but I was still smelling gas even though the pilot light was off and the emergency valve i could hear click off once i shut pilot off.So I called the tech back and he said this was normal to smell some gas because the fireplace had not been used for a few year. But it still made me nervous so I shut gas off completely with the key

Hi Durell, if you are not using the fireplace regularly, I would definitely turn off the gas with the key. I would only leave the gas on if the pilot light is on and you are turning the fireplace on and off everyday. I hope that helps.

Yes, technically it would increase slightly but very small amount since it’s only a polite light.

I have a wall switch which turns on fireplace. If electricity goes off is there a way to manually turn on fire logs. I have no remote as we bought house without one.

Hi Gloria, I'm not sure about that. I would try to turn it on using all the steps in the video and see if it works. Maybe someone else on the thread has insight.

What about the glass screen? Open or closed?

This particular model is ventless which means it does not have any glass screens. If yours is externally vented, then you can close the glass screens for less heat or open them for slightly more heat.

@SandraDiaz yes, you can use "needle-nose pliers" to grab and turn the gas on. It's a bit tricky but you can do it with some patience.

I simply turned the key until it wouldn’t turn anymore so that the gas line would be fully “on.”
