Mike, you have a very good way to zero in on the real common golf problems, and give suggestion as to how to improve it. Very helpful.

Great drill! How do you then turn this into full shots? Many thanks

Hi Nathan, it’s a Drill so it will take time to translate to your full swing. If you stick to practicing it, it will eventually convey in your full swing.

Mike, this is a great drill! I understand your hips and turn move the club but do you still swing the arms as you are turning? I play golf regularly but I swing with all arms and I’m working to change that.

Hi Derek, that’s a good question. Our arms are an extension of the club and part of the lever. Ideally, we won’t swing with our arms. However, since most of us are recreational golfers and have a lot of dexterity with our hands, this is really tough to do. Just try to think about implementing small changes gradually taking your arms out of play. I hope that helps. Thanks for watching.

very good basics Mike. With regard 2 weight distribution from address r u able 2 state where your weight is, i.e at a point when your wrists break, halfway, top of your backswing and just prior 2 impact. That s where my problem lies. I guess controlling the weight shift throughout the swing or should it happen just as a matter of course. I guess I m dissecting the swing with the weight distribution, if that makes any sense

Hi George, I’m just seeing your comment now. The timing of weight shift is an athletic motion. To really break it down, as you turn your shoulders, since your spine is tilted, weight gradually moves to the back foot. How fast that happens in the exact timing of it, will vary from player to player. At the risk of being blunt, I would say that it’s really not possible for someone to hit good shots, or to perform athletically in anyway while trying to coordinate exact weight shift with movements of their body parts or club. For the purpose of helping someone play better golf, I would never break down the exact amount of weight movement with where they are in their swing. Even if I could gives someone a perfect formula, each person would feel a little bit different in how they are doing things. A good golfer, or a good ball striker, is someone who is skilled in the activity. The more you practice, the more you play and the better your technique, the more skilled you will be, and the better your performance.

I think my turn is good but I am confused about where my head should be relative to the ball at impact. I’m trying to move through the ball but this moves my head to a point in front of the ball. With a four iron this cause a bad hook/draw. Should I focus on keeping my head behind the ball at impact?
@MikeSullivangolf6 жыл бұрын
Hi Glenn, your spine should be tilted so your head is farther from the target than your belt buckle. This tilt should be maintained at setup, backswing and through impact. Here's a video that may help: kzbin.info/www/bejne/o2LCq6R5pb-jkNk
