You need to buy the Laura addition augers. So nice you don’t bend over. The older you get the more you appreciate not bending. Life changer.

Oh yes I can attest to that. I do all my gardening without getting in my knees. My knees cannot take that. Actually, I plant a daffodil bulbs a week ago and I just took a shovel dug down lifted the dirt and threw the bulbs in. I wasn’t gonna get way down there and adjust them. I did that last year and they came up just fine.

Maybe we can suggest for Garden Answer to donate him the 2” auger. I’m sure he would give them credit online, just more viewers for every one. ♥️
@rachellewoods84052 күн бұрын
I agree with the others about getting the Laura edition augurs- such a back-saver. Also, I’ve seen Laura use a larger auger to aug all the holes first, then go back and put the bulbs in, often multiple in each hole, so they’re in clusters, like in nature. Seems like a more efficient way, compared to August one hole for every bulb. I’m curious why you didn’t do that, or if you’ve seen it? Regardless, you and Brent’s hard work is going to pay off this spring when you have a beautiful show of blooms- can’t wait!

That is going to be beautiful when the bulbs come up. I can't wait to see them in bloom. I would not have the patience to put in all those bulbs and the blasted squirrels in my area would dig them up!

I used to have the squirrel problem here in Washington state, but now I've tried sprinkling some cayenne pepper, chili powder, or taco mix on top of the soil once tulips are planted. So far, it has worked, and the dang squirrels are not touching my tulips, lol. Just an idea to try.

I have found here in zone 6 that a bulb lawn will rebloom in subsequent years if you can leave the foliage in place after the blooms go by. Mowing before the foliage browns off is the surest way to kill the bulbs. Using bulbs that bloom extra early probably makes a lot of sense, as they will bloom and be gone before the lawn really needs to be mown.

So proud of you both for getting that many bulbs planted 🪻🌷🥀 It’s going to be so pretty before you know it. Will be a wonderful distraction as you continue destroying the back garden to rebuild it. When that is in the not so attractive trenching stage, you guys can take a break and enjoy the view from the front porch. Plus bonus, you just aerated your front lawn. 🎉😂 That’s backbreaking work for sure.

I know it was a lot of work but totally worth it! I would think you would not have to do it again. I have been in my house 20 years and I have yellow crocuses that come up along the sidewalk to my front door every year I didn’t plant them the person who lived here before me planted them And it was probably someone long before the person just before me because that person didn’t do much gardening. they are planted in grass and come up every February. I live in Oklahoma and you can’t get much hotter and drier than that so if I were you, I wouldn’t touch them next year and just see what comes back. I bet they come back and they should multiply.

Flowers look beautiful in a lawn but bulbs need approx. 6 weeks after flowering, to feed the bulbs for next year, before you mow the grass
