Thanks, for the video, very informative. However, I have a question. As you mention, I do have a vacuum connected to the hole in the skimmer (where the skimmer basket is) and there is another whole that is closed. Although the vacuum runs just fine, when I put stabilizer in the skimmer, it does not get sucked in. In this case should I try to blow out water from the pump line how you showed it and should I remove the vacuum hose before I do that?

Thank you! We used the hose and rag method. This fixed our clogged skimmer.

You fixed my problem! Thank you! I bought the bladder and it worked! It broke up the pine needles enough to push it out when the filter was turned back on!! I've been struggling with that problem for months! And the hose mount thing will avoid future problems! Now that I've got it working, my actual vacuum hose must be getting air, so I'm still unable to vacuum, but at least the line is clear now! Thanks again!

I have water coming from my skimmer but not alot will this keep my pump from priming...new pump new filter housing and gaskets new plumbing pipes from pump to sand filter...

You'll know if you're not getting enough water from the skimmer if the pump doesn't fully prime. The water in the pump strainer should be full. Is the skimmer the only source of water for the pump? Do you have a main drain that you can open up to get more water?

I dont have a main drain valve only a pipe from the skimmer under ground to the filter housing...the problem didnt start till the end of last summer when my pump locked up...ive replaced the pump motor..filter housing and gaskets..and all plumbing pipes from filter housing to sand filter...water is full in the housing and when you turn pump on water goes out but doesnt fill back up

@hartung692 yes I did it ended up being a rock in the pipe at the pool skimmer box

I tried this on a slow suction line. The bladder got stuck! I thought it was friction and pulled the hose out of the bladder. Now I have a bigger problem!

Yeah.... thats why they say to do it from the pump side..... you won't push the clog deeper, you try to work it back out the way it came in, and as you found out, you don't run the risk of getting it sucked in. MAYBE try getting another bladder (or the towel and hose) and go from the other end to see if you can force the bladder back out now too. GOOD LUCK!

I have a clog skimmer in my inground pool and i was trying to do this but as soon as i take the lid off from the pump alot of water starts coming out its this normal i maked sure valves were shut and pump was off but water still was coming out

My problem is no water circulation. My water is very green now. I just bought the bladder. Should I lubricate it before I use it so it doesn’t get stuck like another commenters

Its supposed to get stuck, that's how it works. To unstick it just turn the water off.

If you have a CO₂ tank or two laying around, then that is definitely an option.

For five years my skimmer sucked in leaves then it quit I got a new pump keep the water level perfect in the middle it’s swirls going down sucking hard but least we’ll just go right by it without getting sucked in I have change the Jets pointing in different direction in every way I could think of but the lonely leafs just go right by it

My bladder doesnt empty when I shut it off. That scares me it takes too long .

I did that today.. but \i had teh vacum on backwash... does that not lead the debris on the exiting tube onto the street.. and not clog the skimmer line^ I think \i clogged the backwash pipe...could that be

I used the bladder method and though I saw nothing "come out" of the skimmer's drain, i did see that had water coming up. Im guessing whatever it is, itll happen again. Probably mason or something
