I've had to do it with 6010 to seal a repair. Done it with tig on sockets that were spewing out steam. Never thought it possible on open root tig. Learn something new every day. Thank you for this knowledge. It takes years to figure out these little tricks usually

Great video! All of your videos are great, keep speaking truth brother! I've used liquid nitrogen to freeze water upstream in the pipe and then preheated the root. But I didnt even think this was possible. I'll have to give it a go next time.

Worked with this old-timer. He thought me a truck with white toastbread.... Jam it "upstream", fit and weld the tube.. Open the valves, and the flow will desolve the bread.... Problem solved. Used it on steam pipes a couple of times..
@rolltide29375 жыл бұрын
FYI guys if they gonna shoot this weld don’t do this it’s guaranteed to bust out!!!! But if it’s just a drain or vent then go for it.... I’ve personally always taken a rosebud and heated the pipe 3or4 foot away from the weld or stuffed the pipe with a rice paper dam or a loaf of bread to soak up the water it will wash out during start -up.....

try welding stainless steel steam leaking tube while water keep pouring out.Small tube,size 12 mm.Always make me stress when i find this defect on powerplant site.All valve along the pipe were passing,damage,can't close it.Cannot fully drain the water out.So left me with stressfull day,job not complete.No solution yet.That was a hot steam tube.Urgent,yet can't be done.Still learning.If you show to us.I will be so grateful.

Another way too help slow water down enough time to get a root in is to throw a few loafs of bread in the pipe

Is the possible with a 6010 or such type of electrode. If it is I'd love to see how that's done. We have an irrigation project that we often need to fix holes on steel mainline but very difficult to completely stop water drip.

This is the equivalent of dousing a hot weld with water? This would make the pipe and weld very brittle. If it's just junk alrighty then, but if it's any kind of critical service, then consider it a fail, but not the welder, on supervision.

@Tacklebox4555 жыл бұрын
Never pass x-ray ,only system it would be acceptable on would be a drain and that's if no rice paper or drying efforts where effective,that area of weld would be so weak because of the rapid cooling as well

If you are turning it black you are way to hot or you have a purge problem. Perfect color is gold to pink. Blue starting to get hot, purple getting too hot, brown way too hot, black scorched.
