Don't forget, when you get a kill or an assist with this weapon, your shield fully heals. This feature has saved me alot of 1 v 2! Mines net you alot of assist so lay those mines!

there is one thing about this, it takes about a quarter to half a second for the shield to pop when it takes enough damage (best seen when hit by a charger), if in this state your shield will not regen or heal with an assist or kill, i have had too many times where i die because i didn't get the regen while in a 2v1

One note about 2:07, if you jump your feet will not be covered by the shield due to an animation of the shield moving with your character's jump. A weapon like a charger can easily take advantage of this and shoot under your shield and hit you, whether they intended to or not. Jumping is fine to do if you're in a 1v1 with an inaccurate weapon like a .52 but be careful not to use it to much as it does make you more vulnerable to accurate long range weapons like chargers and to some extent splatlings.

I love this weapon. I leave mines everywhere and set up traps. A 4 shot kill can easily turn into a 1-2 shot with mine assists. ABM Always Be Mining

Undercover Brella really needs a supportive kit to play to its strengths, AKA not the kit it has right now.

I was surprised how light using it feels, which makes sense since I think it was designed to be that way, so I use it as support to weaken opponents rather than simply splat immediately. I was also surprised with how much the brella can ink in a short amount of time.

I love the design of this weapon, and most of the people who main it are cracked. I doubt whether a lot of the Splatoon community has seen a Kingsman movie since it is like rated R.

Remember: USE YOUR INKMINES. They can deal 1 hit's worth of damage, and you can place 2 at a time. Using them while in close combat or commonly traversed areas drastically reduces the time to splat. Reefslider is a really good option for movement, and can get you out of stick situations if you use it right, as well as for the splats.

put 2 next to a zipcaster or inkjet landing point, you'll either get a kill or they will be out of the fight long enough to make it worth it

wear two mains of ink resistance, walking in enough enemy ink, or if your enemy fires at your sheild for long enough, you'll be at 60hp because of the floor.

Undercover brella is my most used weapon, and one thing I've come to learn is that you definitely wanna fight dirty with this weapon. Never pick a "fair" fight; use every trick you can think of to mess with your opponents or get away cleanly. If you CHOOSE to get into a skirmish, make sure it's one you're going to win, or don't pick that fight.

Use mines a lot it's works so well with this weapon try to lure people into it; 1 Main Sup Power Up can increase mine radius and duration they stay marked ... Also don't play it as a Slayer try to be defensively being annoying and provide support

undercover is basically my main, and as much as i wish it had a better kit (like something other than reef slider) the mines are really good for countering enemies who walk into the base, oh and they can also kill enemies, you’ll just need to have two mines by them. over all, this weapon is pretty good :)

Good guide. I've been using nothing but this weapon, and I agree with everything he said here. Though I still disagree with saying it's the worst weapon. Especially in series.

I just started using undercover brella, and I like it. 👍 My first turf battle I did with it, I got 8 splats. 🙂 A couple other battles I got 5 or 6 splats, so I'm pretty happy with this weapon. 🙂👍

The folks in my discord server place this weapon at the bottom tier. I could not understand why. It has good efficiency, tanks a little damage, and is mobile “don’t really slow down while shooting” all while being a good painter and providing a good W:L ratio in one-on-one encounters (which shocked me as I don’t play brella class at all). A very supportive team weapon IMO. When I ask my server why it’s ranked so poorly they call out the sub and special…

ink mine sucks on anything that isn't a backline (generally), being a passive sub and all, and reefslider being an aggressive special. It's as if Nintendo doesn't know what to do with undercover

@@beastmode4tm nonsense. A double-mine detonation turns the UB into a 1-shot kill. Well placed mines allow you to quickly take down slayers despite them technically outpowering you. Use your mines to set up a "turret" position where you can draw enemies into the mines. If you stray from your current placement, drop new mines.

@@Jimblemimble the mines combo to reduce TTK while also serving as a warning system for the team, and reefslider allows it to safely push into areas that would otherwise be difficult to traverse without getting splatted. While it can still be used offensively, reefslider is best used with the UB as part of your mobility options.
