You could also multiply them separately. 3 divided by 3/4 is 3/1 times 4/3. The 3s cancel out leaving 4/1 or just 4. Then divide 1/4 by 3/4 which is 1/4 times 4/3. This time the 4s cancel out leaving 1/3. So you are left with 4 and 1/3.

Another way is to split the whole fraction into its components and then divide each individual component by 3/4: (3 + 1/4) / 3/4 (3 / 3/4) +(1/4 / 3/4) 4 + 1/3 = 4 1/3
