Thanks for the video! I think I may end up having to uninstall mine to troubleshoot it. I've actually got the exact model you show in this video (Whirlpool WDT710PAHZ1). A couple days ago it just stopped working. We started a typical cycle for us (sensor wash, normal, sani-rinse, heat dry). After about 35 minutes the unit just stopped (I'm assuming it lost power). Went outside, flipped the breaker. First few times didn't work, eventually flipping the breaker did work and I was able to cancel the cycle which allowed the dishwasher to drain the remaining fluid and shut off. Decided to give it a second try, exact same cycle as before. Only this time it shut off after about 5 minutes. Tried flipping the breakers again multiple times but cannot get the unit to turn back on. I've pulled back the bottom panel (I think you called it a kick guard or something) and checked the power. Looks like those who installed it put the wiring together properly based on your prior video showing how to install it. I followed the power chord as best I could without removing the unit to see where it goes. I think ours is not plugged in, but hooked up to the house. (Could be wrong). We also have a switch under our sink that we can use to turn the dishwasher on and off and we've messed with that as well. Lots of information, I know. Any idea what my next steps should be? Are there things I can do without having to pull the whole unit out still? Thanks!

Thank you so much I followed all the steps and was able to uninstall my dishwasher and for that I will be forever grateful now I have an issue. When I go to turn on my sink where the water supply line was connected leaks I don’t know if I have to put something there to use my kitchen sink? Please someone help. My poor cabinets will be ruined because of the flooding under the sink.

9:49 and on- You keep saying "drop the feet" but I think you mean raise the feet, which seems like the opposite verb. Dropping the feet will raise the dishwasher and give less room. Unless you have a different set up for the height adjustment.
@TheAppliancePlug Жыл бұрын
Dropping the feet allows for more room to see and reach the back feet. Dropping the feet raises the dishwasher higher
@ccbowers Жыл бұрын
I see. The confusion comes at 10:40 when you say "drop it" but there I think you mean bring the dishwasher down (raise the feet), because in the circumstances when people have built up flooring higher than the dishwasher cut out area, it can be impossible to remove the dishwasher when the feet are dropped

As a woman I do many small projects around the house. This is the second time I've uninstalled a dishwasher to save money with my appliance man. This video made it much easier but the BAD PART OF THE VIDEO is he doesnt show you how to disconnect the (dishwasher motor) electrical that is on the front bottom right. You have to take that panel off and pull the wires through the back (a little cumbersome) to release the dishwasher. You can NOT remove the dishwasher without doing this. He didn't have to do it because his dishwasher plugged into an outlet. MOST OF US HAVE IT HARDWIRED (therefore not using an outlet) Again, this is a great video but you will need to watch several more videos.
@TheAppliancePlug5 ай бұрын
Thank you Beverly for the kind words! Glad I was able to help you out! Yes, some dishwashers are hardwired which makes it a bit more difficult. I should definitely make a video with one that is hardwired as well.

When I uninstall my old dishwasher is there a way to cover the wires hanging from the wall until I purchase a dishwasher sometime in the future? I bought some big blue wire covers, I assume I can use those? How do I shut off the hose connected to the dishwasher? I am at work, you are probably answering these questions, so I will play it loud at home.

Any tips for protecting the floor from the dishwasher feet when you uninstall? I am also thinking there might be water in the hoses. Do you lay anything down or try to drain the hoses before pulling them through to the back?
@TheAppliancePlug3 жыл бұрын
My best advise regarding the legs on the dishwasher is to make sure they are adjusted to the lowest they can go before attempting to pull the dishwasher out. That should give you enough clearance to pull the unit out without the legs touching the floor. You will want to be careful slowing pulling the front of the dishwasher out then once you're past the frame you can raise the front so it angles to the back allowing you to lift the back legs off the floor as well. As far as the water in hoses, I typically will stuff a paper towel inside the drain hose so it prevents water going everywhere. The water inside the supply line will be minimal and easy to wipe up. Good luck!
@bonniemcdermid7387 Жыл бұрын
I had a minimal amount of water in my lines, and just laid down some towels before moving it. And the feet on the bottom had a soft plastic pad, so it did not scratch my hardwood floor when I pulled it out!
@NVanHiker11 ай бұрын
Good question! There isn't THAT much water in the return hose, but even though I sopped it up with towels, I'm in a condo, and some water managed to find its way through the ceiling of the apartment below. That hose carries a surprising amount of water - I would recommend letting it empty into a bucket instead of just relying on towels.

But what do you do with the open hole of the drain hose? It’s there’s a way to use the sink after removing the dish washer without installing a new one?
@TheAppliancePlug3 жыл бұрын
Yes, you can use the sink without installing a new dishwasher. However, you would need to plug the disposal. There are a few different ways this can be done. I use a rubber disposal connector and add a cpvc plug. As I mentioned there are other ways to do this, but here's a link to the rubber connector I use at Home Depot: www.homedepot.com/p/Everbilt-1-1-2-in-Black-Rubber-Dishwasher-Garbage-Disposal-Connector-C7983C/205153935?MERCH=REC-_-searchViewed-_-NA-_-205153935-_-N

2:05 my drain hose is connected the same way. I am planning to remove my old dishwasher but will be installing a new one later on. If I remove the drain hose, will the garbage disposal leak water?
@TheAppliancePlug Жыл бұрын
Hello, thanks for your comment. Yes, it will leak if you fill your sink and water drains at once. If you’re conscious of it and make sure you keep water flowing it might not leak. However, if you run your disposal it’s possible water and other items may splash out. They do sell a drain adapter with a stopper that connects to the disposal to prevent this. Or of course you can do a handyman fix like sealing the hole with tape. Thanks for watching!

Do you have a video on how to uninstall a dishwasher that has copper water supply line?
@TheAppliancePlug Жыл бұрын
I don’t have a video of that yet but that’s great idea. In the mean time, all you need to do is disconnect the water supply line from the connection at the dishwasher inlet valve. If it’s underneath the dishwasher, it will be located toward the front right behind the kick plate. Once you remove the kick plate, you’ll see the connection. You can either use a 5/8” open wrench or an adjustable wrench. I hope this helps. Let me know if you have any questions. Thanks for watching!
