Thank You. For someone with a moderate amount of DIY knowledge, but never having replaced a dishwasher before, your video was perfect. No overly wordy explanations or repeating the same asinine warnings about making sure you remember to trip the breaker or turn off the water supply or you could end up with a mess. Sigh… those videos drive me crazy. To the point, well spoken, clear video, no multiple reminders about common sense things like “ don’t forget to make sure you triple check that your screws are snugged up tight to prevent any problems in the future. “. And no novel length speeches like the one that I’m giving in this comment. Liked, subbed, and notifications on, just because I think if you post something, I might learn something and I didn’t have to devote an hour to something you could concisely explain to me in five minutes. So thank You! I’m a fan!

So frustrating when the panel description doesn't match up with the actual breakers. Sometimes the panel is put on upside down. If all else fails, you can process of elimination and find out what breaker really is tied to the dishwasher. Be careful! Use the voltage tester

Not every dishwasher is the same, but the concept is pretty universal. Bottom of dishwashers are no joke as the manufacturer keeps a lot of the metal down there pretty raw and feel no need to sand any corners or edges. Glad you got it figured out!!! I bet it looks great!

Great video! Thank you! I hope this helps someone. I was thinking the hardest part of this for me would be laying the dishwasher on its back and then picking it back up again. But I figured out that I can put two chairs facing each other and lay the dishwasher back on those. I hope the weight distribution will allow for that. Few things to add: Unplug the dishwasher if you can or check for power Check for leaks before you slide it back in Screw the feet down on the existing dishwasher before sliding it out - gives you a lot more room to work with. If you're replacing cords you can disconnect them and not be worried about damaging them while pulling out.

1:08 or you may have a switch on you kitchen wall to turn off power to the dishwasher. This was very helpful but i had other hurdles when I did mine yesterday. The water line was a corroded copper tube going to L joint on DW. I couldn't tell which to losen because of all the corrosion. So I undid from under sink instead. But then knob was not all the way off and I got water under sink. then after I hooked up DW to water under sink the knob joint started leaking so I had to tighten that , i may have to replace that. Then my drain hose clamp i had on old one was too big so now i have to go to store to get another clamp.

A great video! I need to remove my dishwasher and this clearly shows how. thanks. By the way, can I just unplug the electrical cord from the wall socket instead of turning off the breaker?
@ColtonCrumpDIY4 жыл бұрын
Yes so if you have a dishwasher that has just the wall plug instead of rewiring you can just unplug it and then make sure your next dishwasher has a plug

@@ColtonCrumpDIY Thank you for the clarification. My breakers do not have clear labels and I did not want the hassle of going through all the circuits.

Colton, you forgot the absolute most important step! Always always always test before touch! Verify that the power is off with a voltmeter or test light before de-terminating the power leads!
@ColtonCrumpDIY4 жыл бұрын
You are right. I did forget to mention to test with a multimeter, or something similar or as simple as a test light. Test it out and make sure the voltage has stopped from the wires. I usually do pretty well at mentioning this but I forgot to add it in this one. Thanks for the comment!

My dishwasher plugged into the wall. Should I check the breaker too? I bought a dishwasher and had them install it.
@ColtonCrumpDIY3 жыл бұрын
If you have a dishwasher that was installed with a cord that plugs into an outlet and had a licensed professional install it, likely the outlet is protected and you should be fine to replace your dishwasher by unplugging it then ensuring your new dishwasher has a plug that also plugs into the same outlet

An easier way: Very first thing to do is switch off circuit breaker. Then turn on dishwasher. If it doesn't light up, you have cut off the power.

You might of just saved my life! My wife just got a new dishwasher and I turned off the breaker labeled dishwasher. Turns out it was still getting electricity.

I’m just installing an older, used Hobart D/W in my tiny house. After locating the wires, I’ve decided to install a plug-in cord to the dedicated 20 a receptacle behind the d/w. Also, since the used d/w didn’t come with any hoses, I’m putting in a new water supply hose and a new drain hose. The issues I have are matching sizes of the connection points. I believe that the fill hose is 3/8” with a 1/2” female connector. The drain hose will fit the existing clamp connection but the other end is larger than the sink trap tailpiece. So I’m trying to figure how to remedy that. I won’t have a garbage disposal, but will install and air gap under the sink.

Have you checked your local home hardware store to see if they have an adapter? Or Amazon even. Just the make sure you get some clamps or pvc cleaner/glue. Did you also make sure your D/W is on a Gfci line? By code they need to be.
