How to unjam Arrow's HT55 Slim Hammer Tacker

I bought this recently, thinking that because of the Arrow brand it would be one of the best. But it jammed endlessly on the first day. I was constantly having to fix it and when I empty the magazine, the strips of staple were broken up into small crumbs. I tried different lengths of staples and different brands. All T50 and A11 staples are the same category and are full interchangeable. I literally spent more time fixing it than using it, plus I wasted about half a box of staples by having them broken up into crumbs that can only be thrown away. I've been in construction for over 20 years and have put thousands of staples through several makes of hammer tackers and have NEVER seen one fail as badly as this. I'm returning it.

HOW DO WE MODIFY TO STOP JAMMING?! No one on any of our crews likes using ANY brand of stapler, NOT ONE of the three brands we've used can go a full day without JAMS, BENT STAPLES, PARTIALLY HIT STAPLES, on and on. I dont wanna hear about lube, we've used and are using several incl DRY graphite.

Hello - We understand your frustration. Unfortunately all hammer tackers will jam on occasion. Bent staples and staples that don't fully penetrate the substrate often are the result of the staples being too long for the application. You might want to consider something other than a hammer tacker, such as a cordless electric or pneumatic stapler. - Your Arrow Fastener Team

+Martin Rodriguez, following these steps will help you clear your T50 Heavy-Duty Staple Gun: 1. Remove the pusher rod assembly. 2. Use a screwdriver and pliers to remove the screw and nut. 3. The channel assembly can then be removed and you can clear the jammed staple. You can also see a diagram here: bit.ly/1nOHiuU. Were you able to clear it after following these steps?

Just bought this. I got about 8 staples out of it and it jammed! Cleaned it out and it jammed after 2 or 3 staples. T50 just as it requires. I am pissed and this crap is going back. SO PISSED!

don't even waste your money buying this product mine jammed twice and I only saw one stable.the second time at gym so bad I couldn't even unjam it and that's from trying to slam it and trying to get a stapler I kept trying to slam it I'm getting my money back and never buying this again

Hey there, sometimes you can get the magazine to pop out by knocking the hammer tacker upside-down on a piece of scrap wood. Also double-check to see if there's any material stuck in the staple exit point, and use needle-pliers to clear it if there is. A few things to keep in mind about hammer tackers: They're designed to quickly insert staples through softer types of building materials into wood and works best for installing materials such as felt paper, insulation or carpet backing. To ensure full penetration and minimize jams, try to keep the head of the hammer tacker straight and level as you strike the surface of the material. Use the shortest staple possible. (Take a look at our staple guide for more information: bit.ly/3fJdrRS.) Hope you'll find these tips helpful!

This just doesn't make sense. You skipped a step of removing the pin that screws in. Well I removed that pin and the pusher assembly will not come out. Super confusing. I don't think I will ever be able to unjam this thing!

I've owned many Arrow staplers, pop-rivet tools and hammer-tackers, never had a problem...this one is garbage, jammed after 10 min on the job and IMPOSSIBLE to remove the magazine. Never again, Arrow.

Remove the pusher assembly by sliding and unhooking the metal plate at the back of the tool. Push the pin partway out then press up on the magazine to remove the pin the rest of the way. Push the magazine down and forward using your thumb then should be able remove it. If you need more help, please contact us at 800-776-2228
