There used to be one of these in Llanwern steelworks for unloading the iron ores from Port Talbot Docks. The only difference is that the wagons were never split due to the rotary couplings used

Exactly the same rotary coupling and unload at Iron Ore unloaders in Western Australia straight from the mine.

Use rotary dump cars and you dump them without disconnecting the cars! This must be overseas.

Cool, but it seems kind slow. I've seen videos where 3 and 4 bay hopper cars are discharged from the bottom in just a few seconds.

Bottom discharge is much faster, but it also means the cars are a bit more mechanically complex so need more maintenance and occasionally fail and dump coal on the ground.
