Wagon tippler operation at Jindal Steel, Tornagallu, Karnataka.

The wagon tippler is operated using the side arm charger to unload and washed coal at south yard of Jsw Steel. For unloading of each BOXN, BOXNHL etc. It takes around three minutes for unloading of washed coal. By watching this video you will understand how the train operations and tippler operations will run in the factories..

They use such procedures because railways charges the industry for every minute the wagon is in their goods shed and loading and unloading sections hence to minimise the time and money they just tip the whole bogie. This reduces the time taken to unload the wagon.. example if they would have used the side doors of wagon to unload it would have taken more than a minute which is not the case with tilting the whole wagon

Railway will not take charge for haulage of wagons, they will follow EOL scheme (Engine On Load) in which Railway will provide 5 hrs detention of time for unloading the raw materials for BOXNHL and BOXN wagons etc. After placing the rake on wagon tippler line the engine will be uncoupled and will be sent to Railways for their operations. As you crctly said side door operation, yes they will be using the side door pnumatic operations that is called as track hopper. This operation are also being used in JSW.

Yes, there is spillage of material beneath the tippler. However those materials shall be removed manually.
