I thought I had the same problem. It turned out my new replacement blade has a new "feature"; it's 50% thicker. That prevented installing in the knife. A standard replacement worked fine.

The blade release mechanism on this thing is beautiful - once you figure it out. And like a lot of others in the comment thread, I was dealing with a dull blade because I couldn't figure it out. You've made my Amazon-box-breaking-down chores a lot easier. Thanks!

So i ended up buying the same husky knife (thinking the old one was crap), than discovered i couldn't take that damn blade out either!?
