Your chances of achieving flow exponentially increase from a good nights rest. There are times when I have woken up super excited to start the day - I was in flow from the get go from a good bed, good spinal posture for energy flow, good diet routine before bed etc. I think eating heavy and too close to bed is a flow killer. Also flow is a Gamma phenomenon not a theta alpha phenomenon. I can teach you how to access flow that could be as easy as 5-15 minutes - just stand and close your eyes and maybe even walk slowly around aimlessly with eyes closed - you will recover your missing deep sleep this way and when you have surplus energy your brain actives the flow state naturally into Gamma. If you need more than 15 minutes then that's actually a good sign it means you are sleep deprived! On some REALLY bad days I may do 1 - 2 hours. Don't be surprised if at some point in this standing sleep/meditation that you get extreme energy and motivation about life.

1. Flow before phone - get 2-3 hrs of productive work done, first thing in the morning. 2. Start doing the work within first 90 seconds of the day. Develop flow proneness. 3. Flow triggers - immediate feedback, clear vision and challenge/skill above 4% your current level. 4. Flow cycle - stretch your attention span, develop this muscle.

Modern smartphones nowadays are versatile tools that can be used on a variety of things, such as to learn and achieve goals, but the problem is most people don't really use it for that purpose and instead use it on distractions like social media and video games. If the work/task can't be done anywhere else except the phone or other devices then it wouldn't really be considered a flow blocker if it's propelling you forward to your goals.

I have been learning about flow for some time now. Do NOT, I mean DO NOT mistake it as focused concentration! Flow is effortless. No need for energy. If you're resisting and you're pushing, you are not in flow. Flow is a spectrum, and at the end of it, out of body experience. I experienced this while running on a track at 11 pm alone pitch black with just my phone flash light illuminating a few feet in front of me. When there is only one task to do, no distractions, or even if there are distractions, it doesn't matter. The mind is on one thing and that alone. It's insane.

@@gexpro008 Yes. I felt like I was a little alien lookin from my eyes. It was surreal. Intense. Terrifying tbh. Because at that point, I grasped and found a connection to my potential which is infinite. I finished my run with a 100 meter dash but it became into a 400. I slowed down because the feeling terrified me. In that instance, I felt like I could keep accelerating. Oh yeah that was after an hour of running and I finished with 400 meters of constant acceleration. When acceleratin, I felt like I could keep going, like I tapped and found the limiters on my body and I could use its full potential until it breaks so I took hold of the steering wheel and slowed down. Incredible feeling. I was laughing at the end lmao. I finished the run but I had more energy. It was amazing. Perhaps I should try running at night again.

Key Takeaways: 1. Flow state is a state of consciousness that makes work feel effortless, and is behind the success of many high-performing individuals. 2. The four pillars of flow state are: flow blockers, flow proneness, flow triggers, and the flow cycle. Action Items: Flow Blockers: - Remove common sources of flow blockers, such as distractions from your phone. - Practice "flow before phone": complete 2-3 hours of productive work before checking your phone. Flow Proneness: - Increase your likelihood of accessing flow by optimizing your physiology, psychology, and environment. - Begin your most important work within 90 seconds of waking up, while your brain is still in a flow-friendly state. Flow Triggers: - Utilize flow triggers such as clear goals, immediate feedback, and challenge-skill balance. - Apply these triggers to activities that may not naturally have them, like work tasks. - Engage in tasks that are about 4% more difficult than your current skill level. Flow Cycle: - Understand that flow states operate like dimmer switches, not light switches. - Persist through the struggle phase by practicing task persistence and attention span stretching. - Allow yourself to release and recover after achieving flow, to replenish energy and integrate new knowledge or skills. EDIT: 1.5k likes WOW! Did not expect this comment to blow up, thanks all :)

As a long time educator in California I would beg someone take on the task of educating teachers and administrators in this concept. I mention the book FLOW in my book on Classroom Discipline 101 and the school systems are maniacally stuck in a matrix of mediocrity, the opposite of FLOW where they constantly frustrate and torture students through social promotion and an ideology of ‘meeting state standards’ rather than understanding students need to have a challenge 4% above their current level. For God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life. You see, we all have sinned, and have broken God’s law (The Ten Commandments). Wrong doing deserves justice and must be punished (just like how a criminal has to pay for the crime they have committed) but God saved us from the eternal punishment of our sins by sending His Son Jesus Christ, fullness of God in flesh, to pay the penalty for us by dying on the cross and resurrecting, so that we may have everlasting life. Now for you to accept the free gift of grace, you must repent of your sins and put your faith in Jesus Christ and Bible says that His Blood will cover all of your sins, you will be forgiven, saved from eternal punishment, and be given everlasting life. By faith you will receive the Holy Spirit, become born again and He will transform your heart and clean you from the inside out. Turn away from sin, read the Bible, pray for the Holy Spirit to fill you and change you, obey the Word. Much love and God bless you!

Speaking as a Psychiatrist this is indispensable information. Personally, I've been able to find "flow" naturally at will even as a child, but I also was considered very strange for those same abilities, because I do actively block out the extraneous noises from the outside world. People use to think I was being rude, obnoxious, or arrogant when I'm writing and letting it loose by allowing myself to find this state of mind. The old saying "just go with the flow" is a phrase I often use, because for myself that metaphor sums-up the experience as a whole; however, distraction is definitely the enemy of "flow" and your smartphone is a major contributor. I don't own one just because of this reason. The only advice I may offer anybody is that "flow" is an effortless state of mind, which people often confuse for deep concentration, which it isn't, because it's simply a state of being content within oneness. In my mind "flow" simply allows for the location of the simplest answers, which often make for the best conclusions. We all have these moments when we instinctively know the answer to a question, but if someone asks how you arrived at the right conclusion, but you can't explain it, because it's just there and correct. I'd describe the neurotransmitters involved; however, I know that's above most people's comprehension. I enjoyed watching this video, so continue the good work gentlemen.
@spinglasshydra Жыл бұрын
@@了了了 If a person learns "flow" and uses it often enough, you may sustain the effort for long and longer periods of time. It really isn't as rare as most people think --- I believe it's been called "self-discipline" by most people, but "flow" is the same thing. I've always personally called this state of mind "flow". When I'm working, I tune out everyone and time as well, to the point that I'll forget to eat and continue working long into the night until 2 AM. It can become an addiction after a while, which other's may often may find you aloof or not paying attention to them. I can look right at people while they're speaking to me, but my mind is elsewhere solving problems, but I'm lucky to have a wife that's aware when I do this and she'll often cover for me --- While I need to quickly find a pen and paper to write out my conclusions and solutions, before I forget it. Rian explains how to find and maintain "flow", which is the key to not only productivity, as well as success. I don't know what his methodology involves for reaching his hyperfocus steps, but I believe it's the next step in human evolution. If anyone master's how to get into "flow", then you'll accomplish a days work, well within a couple hours. Afterward the rest of the day is free, if you work for yourself. When I attended UCLA, I use to do exactly what Rian explained about waking up and complete my homework and/or projects --- Especially, my math classes.

No, don't use your flow first thing in the morning to work on your business, stay in bed, contemplate, meditate, and obeserve your mind and thoughts. Get in touch with who you truly are, not what society is telling you who you're supposed to be, go over the day's plan, go over the big plan, think about the dreams you had and what they mean, how did these dreams make you feel, what is something in real life that triggers similar feelings, this is the most important thing to do every morning after sleep, this is the second half of sleep rejuvonation, you lose sleep healing properties when you do this to yourself, working on business, scrolling on tiktok, a billion context switches, instead, use the first 15-30 minutes after waking up, to intergrate your dreams and get all the psychological benefits from sleeping.

I grew up being in flow state, sh*ts were never hard or need effort, my family said that im gifted everytime i try something. Once i try i understand anything. Math is the easiest subject, art, exercise, creativity is all simple but something that keeps being new and changes over time like communication language is something else but i dont usually on that like i dont care. Doing it yourself is the think you need rather than following the steps

i remember being on the gym and being so distracted while being push-ups, that a couple minutes doing constant push-ups felt like a single blink. I've never managed to replicate this again. flow is one hell of a mental state. I dont even know if I will ever be able to achieve it ever again.

i have no words for this video. To anyone who has truly struggled with working and accomplishment and experienced both the struggle state and the flow state, this video transforms their vague idea into concrete and practical steps giving them a clear pathway towards achieving the frictionless, lucid and elusive state of mind. Even though the whole video has very important info for me the main barrier was task persistence and sustained attention. the analogy about training a muscle is very apt as the harder u train ur muscle (without going into total failure comparable to the 4% difficulty increase rule) the higher the baseline capacity of the muscle increases (ie: the muscle/nerves becomes stronger, faster and more accurate). important thing to note is to not go into failure or ramp up the difficulty too high. In the case of the mind and focus its like stretching a spring if u stretch a spring for long enough it doesnt compress back to its original shape, same with flow state in the mind, if sufficient mental pressure/effort is sustained for the required time then after the effort is relaxed the mind doesnt go back to its original state and the flow becomes the baseline. This was my understanding of this state through my own personal context hope it helped someone in understanding this better. Really grateful for this video brother.

I cannot stress how relatable the feeling of “flow” is, I feel like it mostly occurs doing the things you are most driven and passionate about, every time I swim at some point I get into this state of flow, it feels like an energy force which is just gluing me to the activity, like I wanna do it forever (I’m a swimmer fyi
@haithamkhalil1173 Жыл бұрын
Can't be more excited for this! Game changing. content if applied consistently. If people only knew, slowed down/dissolved time enough to notice the difference in quality of "effort" or effortless effort, they wouldn't ever want to return to average baseline. Combining it with a state of gratitude and appreciation for being able to do the task at hand is a powerful enhancer for me personally. As opposed to the self created "friction" that arises from "resistance". Energy efficiency is a precursor as well as professional recovery, as opposed to the" I'll sleep later and 24/7/366 always on" narrative. God Speed FRC!

This is a great addition to what I learned about Flow! I just recently read about this one from a book titled Ikigai by Héctor García and Francesc Miralles. One thing that they mentioned is that the Japanese are renowned for their perseverance and absorption in their tasks and being thorough with it in detail. This explains why their artisans are highly regarded because of their lifetime dedication to their craft, which directly relates to the benefit of flow for personal and to others.

What I learned ! Avoid distraction (phone & useless information) Morning is the best time a style of work : clear goal , intermediate feedback , a bit challanging . For e.g for me , while solving math , I hve clear goal to take out solution , intermediate feedback are the steps I'm proceeding towards and a bit challanging becoz I haven't solved this equation ever before . Meditation and working like stretching attention period will help

To enter the Zone "Flow State", one must have the passion/ love for what they're doing. Second requirement is that the person has to have talent on top of that passion that he has to what they're doing. Third is that everyone has different "triggers", and that you can never force yourself to the zone without going through the trigger. -Aomine Daiki (Kuruko no Basuke)

I’ve experienced flow in things like school when I’m literally just writing. One time when I was in ELA I was supposed to work on a 5 paragraph essay and for the first 10-20 minutes I was thinking what to do and 8 was getting super anxious then out of nowhere it clicked and then for the ready of class I finished an assignment on a subject I didn’t know much on an I got an A- in the class. It was insane because my fingers wouldn’t stop moving the ideas kept coming it was amazing

Disclaimer: Haven't watched, heard, or read, almost anything on flow, got interested recently I've always thought of the the flow state like, for example, breathing. We inhale and exhale air constantly, but once be become conscious of it, we start to do it "manually" and exit that flow state in a sense. We have to be automatically responsive with the activity we are doing right now in a way. I hope I summarized it decently!

Something Not touched on here but behind entering Into a Flow is the release of Self, where the mind is no longer preoccupied with Itself,,,This is the Doorway to Flow...When you are empty of self concern, Something Else, your Deepest Being begins to operate in that space....This is the Flow, where activities are effortless and carry on with a degree of perfection that no effort of self could achieve...When we are empty of self concern, Life flows thru us...Happiness is Most present when you arent seeking it.

Points which i found useful: -Get 2-3 hrs of productive flow that is your highest priority work first thing in the morning (before touching your phone) -get up and get to work within 90s of waking up -engaging in tasks that are 4% more difficult then your skill level -Flow Cycle: Struggle/Discomfort(Get through this initial phase of discomfort even if it is painful)->Attention Span Streaching(Like any other exercise streaching work span will make your attention span grow longer(you train your attention capacity)-->Release(You go into flow state)->Recovery(where you take brake and let the knowledge consumed retain and rest your mind)

Okay People. I saw the title and I immediately clicked inside me. And I went in and saw it. Then I felt very very very surprised. I have entered the flow state many many times as of late. When you enjoy a task or when you do it for someone who you like, friends, family etc. Actually entering flow state maybe something we all have been in. Sometimes we might think and think and think such that we may not even know what we thought of there you have reached flow state but you have not recorded it down anywhere. Its just like when you watched a movie that have great audio without any audio. We would not even remember what we did during that state, I mean the specifics.

I recently began investing in stocks and cryptocurrency, and it was the best choice I've ever made. If you genuinely want to be financially secure, disregard everything the media is suggesting. this is just my personal experience, but if you make a mindmap or infographic of something, in my case, it was my very thought processes to look into my roots of chronic procrastination back then when i started. im using a digital one as i find editing or fixing something is almost inevitable for making something good for yourself i use mindjet manager usually 1. mindmap is a more intuitive note rather than plain paragraphs and points going down, you can give it direction to imply something, just keep adding points for starters, you can visually see whether you actually understand it so you can make a summary, make a lot of paragraphs into a few simpler sentences or you are only trying to memorize a lot of points but you dont feel the connection between points then edit them a bit it is still in the same point but it explains more of it, move it so it is leaning down in the mindmap, the topic is going further, deeper into the bigger picture but not deeper of a specific part, move it so it leans to the right what you are thinking is going too wide or straying, it leans up, you noticed there are loops on some part, either an error on my thinking or the content of what im learning, here is time to draw an arrow connecting that part with an earlier part then put some explanation on the arrow 2. some surprisingly find this easier to navigate and skim than a long note. it is harder to make obviously but a note that doesnt serve you well isnt really a good note even tho it might be neat 3. easier to use when teaching others (compared to showing a long as document/book of full text) for most people and to reread in case u forgot it once done 4. as it is visually easier to comprehend, the brain (RAM for humans) is less tasked to remember things when you are trying to find/learn something new therefore has more room to review, think, deduce, etc. very few people has really good memory, big and complex thinking capacity, and fast and high intelligence to draw the lines between points without a note and still remember them over a long time
