This worked exactly as described. I needed to modify the VBscript to change the output path of the file from using Windows backslashes to Unix-Linux forward slashes, and it worked great. The original creator of the script is no longer available and we did not have the password. Nice going!!!

You can fix the problem with different separators by using this code instead of the separator, this way the macro will adjust to the given system and its not hardcoded to any given system: Application.PathSeparator

I hope this helps someone. Using Winrar, i only toke the Bin file out, did the DPB part and put it back. For any reason, i had to do the DPB part two times. Either did not save properly the first time or it has two DPB that have to be changed.

If the file is an xltm (template file) performing these steps and then zipping it back into a .xltm will just crash excel and not work. However you can zip the file back together with a .xls extension and it works :D Just a heads up for anyone else in that boat. Thanks for the good guide @Amarindaz

Funny this worked already with older versions of Excel. I thought Microsoft has made it harder to get around this protection but it seems not. You can also convert the file into a Excel 2003 format (XLS) and open then the file directly with the HEX editor and do the manipulation.
